Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is signaling that he is ready and prepared to move another Supreme Court nominee from President Trump through Senate confirmation including during the the 2020 presidential election season, if another seat were to become available then.
Well see if there is a vacancy in 2020, McConnell said in an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation."
McConnell famously blocked a Senate vote on former President Barack Obamas Supreme Court nomination Merrick Garland two years ago, on the grounds that it was a presidential election year.
When asked Sunday whether moving a Trump nominee in 2020 would break the precedent he himself set in 2016, McConnell argued that a Senate case in 1880 justified blocking a nominee in the specific situation in which the Senate is controlled by the party opposing the president.
Trump has boasted that he may have the opportunity to nominate several more justices. Court-watchers are closely tuned in, in particular, to the health of liberal justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is 85 years old. The second oldest justice, Stephen Breyer, also generally sides with liberals on the court.

I believe his staff debunked that.
Yes.
Wow, an off day public statement from Mitch. I better go sit down. The shock made me light-headed.
He is the snapping turtle now. Whether or not he advances a nominee in an election year, this is triggering material for the left. I sure hope more republicans learn to twist the knife, its the fun part of politics.

RBG...no way she’ll make it another 4 years...vote Trump!”
Im thinking Weekend At Bernies when I see threads such as this. Someone should poke RBG with a fork every now and then to see if she flinches.....
The Republicans were also in charge of the Senate, and if they maintain control; the comparison is mute. Only if the Dems are in control of the Senate in 2019 would the comparison be legit if Trump nominated an individual.
Who's apparently not wise enough to control her weight.

Does the 25 Ammendment apply to Supreme Court Justices?
Kavanaugh should show there are no hard feelings by bringing in bear claws for everyone.
They did, for this past term. Rumblings about him leaving are still ongoing.
Interesting take...I never thought of it that way.

“McConnell argued that a Senate case in 1880 justified blocking a nominee in the specific situation in which the Senate is controlled by the party opposing the president.”
Someone is mistaken. I saw him on Fox News and he said the precedent for delaying under those circumstances goes back to 1880 and has occurred ever since; NOT that is was just one specific incident in 1880 stated by this writer.
Hell, Mitch, there could a vacancy this week. I just hope it's not through assassination.
SPOT ON and great point!
This sounds counter-intuitive, but I would like the Court shrunk back down to 6 justices.
Keep on the offensive.
