I thought this was superfluous, i.e. - for Gorsuch all they had was the one Rose Garden ceremony. Did they do two for Gorsuch? One private and then one in the Rose Garden?

If so, I’m ok with it. If not, then it opens themselves up to criticism and nothing else. Take the win, flip the ball to the referee and prepare for the next win while they waste time gnashing their teeth over this one.

Well, it is superfluous but the timing of events dictates the second ceremony as necessary.

The instant swearing in was necessary for the new judge to be able to report for work today. He must be ready hear cases and act tomorrow.

That situation is far from “normal”

The formal swearing in of Kavanaugh wasn’t a public event, so he deserves an opportunity to be presented to the nation in this way. The dems would feel a certain level of vindication if the only swearing in of Justice Kavanaugh was quick and private with only a few photos.

Kav fought, Kav won, Kav gets his time in the sun.

And it’s the left that wants to try to foment division between Gorsuch and Kav by pointing out the difference in treatment. FReepers shouldn’t fall for it.
