Republican Marsha Blackburn has surged to an 8-point lead over Democrat Phil Bredesen in a new CBS poll of Tennessee's U.S Senate race a bounce that coincides with the nation's furious debate over the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The poll, released Sunday, found Blackburn, a conservative Williamson County congressman, with support from 50 percent of registered voters in Tennessee, compared to 42 percent for Bredesen, a former two-term Tennessee governor.
It comes as the pollster says this race and others where Democrats are seeking to win in traditionally Republican states have "nationalized." The collection of polls in Tennessee, Arizona and Texas found Democrats with "at best mixed results."
Blackburn is seeking to replace the retiring U.S. Sen. Bob Corker in a closely contested campaign, and her lead is the largest any public poll has placed her at since the Aug. 2 primary.

When elections are nationalized, Republicans win; Newt taught us that 24 years ago.
I’m in TN, and am polled an average of once a day on our landline phone. (Never had one call on my cell.)
I rip Bredesen to shreds if the poller isn’t a bot.
Shut up and (try to) sing: Schmidt's Real Voice
.
Good point about polls manipulatin voters
Trying to lull us into overconfidence and not voting
Never go for this-—ALWAYS VOTE!
good for you.. Tenn has a lot of smart folks with a lot of common sense. Marsha will win... Go Vols !
She publicly supported Bredesen today.
I wonder if Swift, Bredesen, the Democrat Party, and CBS coordinated Swift's endorsement to create a sense of urgency in Tennessee Democrats?
Before the Kavanaugh nomination, Bredesen had a lead over Blackburn.
In case you haven't heard, Bredesen, who pretends to be a moderate Democrat, has started claiming he would have voted for Kavanaugh - LOL!
Blackburn should ask him if he also supports Gorsuch.
We need to get to work and as a PA resident, I'm donating and calling for LOU, my congress critter is a lock {14} if people get out and vote.
Im sure Taylor Swift will turn that around......
Which is a subset of the overall Trump Effect....
yes, Louisiana last governor’s race is proof. It’s results were based on Vitter’s “character,” not a national issue, and not on his conservative voting record.
My guess is, the net average out of The repugnant Kavanaugh stuff is likely to be 4-5 points in statewide polls. Higher in red states where 8 points seems to the theme, lower in blue/purple states 1-3
The apathetic right and more importantly middle have been awakened and are NOT happy with the Ds no matter what the media is telling you.
I know the Ds somehow think the fustercluck they just created is going to gain them suburban districts because they think it will swing women their way... but I just dont see it. Every woman I have spoken to or overheard on this matter regardless of affiliation. (With the exception of the radilcal left ones) didnt buy thei Ds circus at all... and are angry at them.
They lost any shot at the house IMHO, no matter what the media spin is. GOTV.. the Democrats cannot be rewarded for what they have done... not at any level.
Yes, sadly the GOP has refused to do that. Kavanaugh jus tonstantly made this a national election in spite of the GOP.
FL people probably know less about Nelson than any other politician in the state.
She always had the lead. The Tenneeseean now has an excuse for printing truth.
It must be remembered that Bredesen is the Demcrat reserves. The democrats drug him out of retirement and threw him into the fray becuse there was no other person willing to run
And it will be tough if not impossible to regain the LA governorship in 2019 even though the Democrat governor spent much of his time raising taxes and expanding Medicaid.
Why don’t we just call her Fraulein Swift?
