Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid took a knee during the national anthem before Sunday’s game against the New York Giants in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Reid was the only player to kneel during the “Star Spangled Banner,” continuing the protest he began while playing for the San Francisco 49ers. He was the first Panthers player ever to kneel during the national anthem.
Sunday also marked Reid’s return to the NFL after signing with the Panthers on Sept. 27. He and Kaepernick filed a grievance against the league alleging teams colluded against signing him during free agency because of the kneeling controversy. Despite signing a one-year contract with the Panthers, Reid told ESPN he will continue with the case "without a doubt."
Prior to Sunday’s game, Reid said he was “still considering” whether he will continue the protest.
"I'm still evaluating the scope of our country, and I'll make that decision later," he said last week.
However, Reid made it clear he would continue to fight against racial and social injustice along with Kaepernick. Reid, who is African-American, said he will continue to "stand up for my people."

My BIL was a die-hard professional football fan for 60 years, often missing family events so he could watch his Cowboys.
He has not watched a single game this season.
In other news, the Tampa Bay Lightning won the first of what will be many NHL games in the 2018-19 season, beating the Florida Panthers 2-1.
The Rays and the Lightning fill any sports hole I may experience.
Dallas Stars are winning The Cup this year.
When the players start getting 12.00/hour, then they MIGHT wake up.
Hell, it’s a lot shorter and easier than giving ‘em an IQ test.
Well, there IS some good news - Reid just got the results of his IQ test - it came back negative!
Ditto. There is no forgiveness. Collage football is far better. See the Texas/OU game yesterday? I’d put that game up against any NFL game. Just swapped honey do days.
He’s a millionaire. Doesn’t need the job. May not want it. Why put yourself up to injury?
He's a disgrace to the game, to the NFL, to his college, high school, community, and family.
That’s why I don’t watch the NFL. I won’t reward kneelers.

These clowns are almost funny. They started something that has no ending, because their grievances will never end. The ghetto hates cops and always will. Young black men commit the most crime, so they will always make up the majority of frequent law enforcement consumers. So these NFL dolts will keep kneeling as long as they play and have no ideas about how to resolve anything.
Boring games and protesting players have made the NFL unwatchable.
I actually watched the Jets for a few minutes. First time in 2 years. I still can’t believe these head coaches and owners let those players disrespect the flag.
I forgot to turn on my TV this weekend. And last weekend. And . . .
