GOP senator: Kavanaugh 'won't feel like a winner' after confirmation
The Hill ^ | 10/05/18 | JOHN BOWDEN

Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy (R) lamented the battle over Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination in an interview Friday night, asserting that neither Kavanaugh nor one of his accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, would come out as "winners" following Saturday's vote on his confirmation.

Ford has alleged along with two other women that Kavanaugh engaged in sexual assault during his high school and college years during periods of heavy drinking, allegations which Kavanaugh has denied.

Kennedy told Fox News that no matter the outcome of Saturday's vote, which it appears will be in Kavanaugh's favor, the process was so tainted that neither accused nor accuser could be vindicated in the end.

"There are no winners," Kennedy said Friday. "I'll bet you this time...tomorrow night Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed and I'm very pleased. [But] he won't feel like a winner."

The Louisiana Republican and Senate Judiciary Committee member blamed the panel's ranking Democrat, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), for keeping Ford's allegations under wraps, which Feinstein has maintained was done to protect Ford's request for anonymity, for tainting the process.

"I bet Dr. Ford and her family will not feel like a winner. And it all could have been avoided, if Sen. Feinstein had just turned over Dr. Ford's anonymous note...to us," Kennedy said. "We could have investigated without the intergalactic freak show."

@SenJohnKennedy: There are no winners. I'll bet you this time tomorrow night Judge Kavanaugh...he won't feel like a winner. I bet Dr. Ford and her family will not feel like a winner and it all could have been avoided.

— Fox News (@FoxNews) October 5, 2018 Kavanaugh is expected to be confirmed following Saturday's vote, as key swing vote senators said in statements this week that they plan to support his nomination, including Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), and Joe Manchin (D-W.V.).

Kennedy attacked Democrats on Thursday over the allegations facing Kavanaugh after the publication of the FBI's supplemental background investigation, telling reporters that some parts of the report "make me angry" without explaining further.

"Let me say that again: I really wish you could read this report. There are things in here that really make me angry,” he said Thursday after viewing the report.

"Anybody who thinks politics isn’t involved in this ought to put down the bong.”

He wasn’t throwing anything on Kavanaugh; he was heaping shame on the Demoloons.

That’s exactly what he was saying. The remarks are being sympathetic to him for what he and his family went through - how so many comments interpret his remarks as being disparaging toward Kavanaugh is beyond me. Totally the opposite.

The winner is going to be the truth that Kavanaugh was set up and this was a plot by the Deep State, MSM, and Marxist RATs.

You are certainly right about that. But when Kavanaugh is confirmed, he will certainly be the winner of the struggle, just like the victor of any armed conflict is the winner, despite the casualties incurred.

And, outside of those like ourselves, WHO will tell the public the truth? For damn sure the MSM won't say anything about it; nor will the rats. So as far as the rabble are concerned she is 'clean' and he is 'dirt'. Her reputation is clean, his is trashed.

AND, he is a member of a religion who's priestcraft is in disrepute which makes him guilty by association.

Maybe we should all let him know we support him and DO NOT believe the accusations brought against him.

Kavanaugh will be battered and bruised and will continue to be harassed during his appointment but he will be a Supreme Court justice.

A boxer with a broken nose, one eye swelled shut and a huge cut over the other most certainly feels like a winner when his hand is raised and the belt wrapped around his waist. Yes, Brett suffered through repeated low blows, but he came back and won the fight. Have a nice cold 'ski Justice Kavanaugh!

"Simple. Resign next June and have Trump reappoint him. Do it again with a clear majority."

Congratulations. You've just won the 'Most Stupid Comment of the Day' award.

And, outside of those like ourselves, WHO will tell the public the truth?

Hannity, Rush, Levin and many others. Will the MSM try to cover the truth up, distort it and shut it down? Of course. Will they be 100% successful. Of course not.

Yep. Well that’s kinda FR these days from the old days. Too many negatives that I read and think ...HUH? Exactly HOW did they come to that mindset. Oh well, it is what it is so let’s hope we can all breathe a little easier later today when Kavanaugh is voted in. Bless this man and his family. My heart is sick for them.
