(CNN)Hurricane Florence reminded Americans of something that we in coastal areas know all too well -- the impact and depth of natural disasters are unpredictable. Some people are lucky enough to ride out the storm. For others, underestimating it is a dangerous mistake. Such are the storms of politics.
Snip
More than one-fifth of the voters say Kavanaugh is their most important issue, ranking well above health care and immigration.

The reality is the party in power in the WH loses seats their first midterm. Obama lost a historical amount in the house.
We’re going to lose house seats for sure due to a lot of factors including redistricting.
However if we can keep it to a minimum and add a few to the senate that will be HUGE!
The “midterms looked horrible” ... if they can’t lie, they have nothing to say, apparently.
CNN is ISIS.
Short of an all out “Hot” civil war, the November midterms will be America’s last opportunity to avert an openly-pledged socialist totalitarian overthrow of our Constitutional Republic. The Democrat Socialists have promised impeachments; the abandonment of the rule of law and guaranteed Constitutional protections; and, a return governmental oppression and tyranny.
To no one’s surprise, Obama has now endorsed socialist Alexandria Cortez; Soros-funded communist and anarchist groups have taken to the streets, and are just a harbinger of violent conflicts to come; and, Democrat Socialists are poised to fling open our borders to forever dilute the power of the traditional patriotic American middle-class.
They’ve openly declared war on law enforcement, white people, free speech, males, taxpayers, existing laws, families, achievers, the sanctity of life, American exceptionalism, American history, the military, capitalism and individual freedoms and personal liberties. They have become the socialist party of hate, resentment, fear, doubt, greed, envy, pessimism, suspicion, contempt, and eternal misery, corruption and conflict.
It’s truly now or never.
This story naturally buys into the “conventional wisdom”about the early polls. I believe what Rush Limbaugh posits regularly on his show (and just yesterday again):
1. Early polls are worthless because they don’t take account of the evolving political landscape.
2. More importantly, polls are not conducted to report on public opinion, but to SHAPE IT strongly in favor of Democrats.
3. As we get closer to elections and the pollsters find their results diverging from reality, they tune and adjust their polls to get results that better reflect reality. If they don’t, they will be so far off the mark on Election Day that nobody will ever again believe their polls.
As an example, Rush is suggesting that Ted Cruz probably was never behind.
It’s Trump. Dishonest media.
Still living in the past, I see.
Rasmussen had polls for quite some time showing the Dem lead to not be terribly big (5% or less). And that probably had a good bit to do with these people.
Intersting. For months and months, they trumpeted a “Blue Wave”. Are they now saying the fabled “Blue Wave” isn’t going to happen?
I don’t pay attention to them or the rest of the Leftist media anyway. I long ago stopped. I pay attention to people like John Solomon, Jeff Carlson, Chuck Ross, etc.
The house is another story, but they can't take nationwide polling and apply it to individual House races and come to any meaningful conclusion.
There never was a blue wave coming. It was all BS.
Donald J. Trump likes it when he’s under attack. He knows how to fight back and the GOPers who whine about his tweets and speeches should go sit on something and rotate.
Now he can pull their sorry Republican backsides out of defeat.
Rush says that the media alwaays lie about polls and what is going to happen. As the date draws near, they temper and even reverse their reporting to appear credible after the fact.
This is corroaration of that thought
Polls tend heavily toward the result the guy paying for it wants. No surprise, just the reality of common sense.
It wasnt Russia?
mid terms looked horrible? Looking for excuses
Exactly. We were going to gain in the Senate, pre-Kav. This just solidifies things early. Was the GOP going to lose some congressional seats, yes, probably. We will lose some in PA due to redistricting and shitty candidates. Obviously there are some seats where RINO never Trump folks decided to retire, which makes this tougher too. The first mid-term for any Prez is historically rocky.
Horrible, as always, the media creates the narrative they want, not reality.
‘However if we can keep it to a minimum and add a few to the senate that will be HUGE!’
looks that that’s going to happen...a minimal loss in the House (possibly enough, however, to make Nancy the new Speaker), and a sizeable gain in the Senate...
I am seeing a pattern here. They establish a story by using useless polls that they generate and try to establish their narrative, and then they generate more useless polls to write on the changing trends. It appears to me that the ultimate use of these polls have been to generate news stories for the media and to shape public opinion. I personally think that they are all objective driven.
