I doubt Mitch would schedule the vote if he wasn’t pretty sure about the numbers. That said, if they vote him down, Trump should re-nominate, and let that be the issue in November.

Hold the vote, it’s not going to get any better. If he doesn’t get voted in, then President Trump promises to re-nominate him in the next Congress. The red state Dems go down in flames and we have a larger majority in the Senate to vote on him. One without spineless Jeffy Flake. Hell, Jeffy will probably be out there in the protest line against Kavanaugh talking about how conservative he (Jeffy) is and how it would be the conservative thing to do to vote against Kavanaugh....

What needs to happen is MORE Trumpian senators voting in to avoid such tactics when RBG finally “retires”
I’ve never doubted that flake will go ‘no’. This is his way of getting back at Trump, and it includes all the drama he has orchestrated to appear as being thoughtful of the process. He wants his McCain thumb down moment.

You can’t believe that. DEMS are NEVER going to vote for Kavanaugh. Even though those in very safe blue districts with any kind of decency should vote yes, they won’t.
And they will be deservedly crushed.
