Hundreds of female attorneys urged on Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alask) and Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) to vote against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
More than 350 attorneys made the request in a joint letter sent to the Republican senators, according to the Daily News-Miner.
"We are Alaskan women attorneys who work in a variety of settings, including public interest organizations, government agencies, and private practice," the letter states, the newspaper reported. "Among us are Republicans, Democrats, Nonpartisan and Undeclared voters. We ask you, as your constituents and as fellow lawyers, to vote against confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh as Justice of the United States Supreme Court."
The newspaper reports that the letter says this call to vote "no" on Kavanaugh stemmed from concerns about sexual misconduct allegations against him and his temperament.
"Judge Kavanaugh's conduct during his confirmation hearing fell far short of our standards as citizens and as lawyers," the attorneys add. "He displayed uncontrolled anger, sarcasm, and open contempt of Senators particularly female Senators and he made numerous unapologetically partisan statements."
A spokeswoman for Murkowski told the newspaper she was unsure if the senator had received the letter yet. She added that Murkowski would respond to it directly
Sullivan did not respond to a request for comment from the News-Miner. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.
The letter comes about a week after Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding Ford's claims he sexually assaulted her during a high school party in the 1980s.
Kavanaugh has fiercely denied the accusation, and multiple GOP senators have said an FBI report on its probe into Kavanaugh showed there was no corroboration for Ford' claims.
But Democratic senators have criticized how the investigation was handled.
Murkowski is considered to be a significant swing vote in Kavanaugh's confirmation. She told reporters on Thursday that she is still reviewing the FBI's findings on its investigation.
The Senate is prepared to move forward with a procedural vote on Kavanaugh's nomination on Friday.
“Bears can smell the menstration...”
...oh that’s great Ron! You’re putting the whole office at risk!
Saw this earlier on FNN. They reported that she met face to face with 18 of the female lawyers. This network reported that they were told by 2 of the lawyers that they “solidly believe she is voting no, and would be shocked if she voted to confirm.”
Take it fwiw, which is not much. Truth be told she is the one I am worried about the most. I think Collins will confirm, there is a good chance they get Manchin, and I would hate to have it depend on Flake to the point I am just ignoring him.
Archive the list to make sure none of them are ever nominated to a Federal judgeship, seeing as how they have proven in writing that they don't have the required temperament, not to mention an appalling lack of basic legal knowledge.
The chickification of the legal profession.
“Moose stool is just as bad as Bull stool.”
Yes, but not as bad as loose stool....
Its one thing to dislike someone politically, but calling a top student, athlete and model citizen a rapist drunk over ridiculous charges is total war on whats left of societal norms. This isnt some policy disagreement.

exactly, and that’s why we can’t let them win this or the midterms
how can you reward behavior like this? they’ll get even worse than they are now.
I saw what you did there!!
Heck just look at the deeply-held and steaming anger on the face of Dianne Feinstein, along with pounding on the wall....
it worked... Murkowski changed her mind at the last minute and sided with Dems in calling for an FBI investigation into Kavanaugh.
Feinstein had to get the heat off her own butt for leaking......AND.... sway people to go for the FBI extention. She’s been at this bullying for eons.......she’s deep state and you do what they say or else.....it works well on republican women. Just ask Susan Collins.
You mean the allegations that none of the accusers can back up with any evidence or people to corroborate their story that it actually happened. And then your hurt feelings when Kav dared to defend himself with facts.
there was another article about a bunch of wacko judges doing the same thing
What this tells the average person is, we have a legal profession that doesn’t believe in Due Process. Law school meant nothing to them other than a shingle. And law is political in the representation of a client.
The lot of them need to be disbarred. WE can do better than packs of howling hysterical officers of the Court.
In Anchorage (population 300,000), there might be fifty to seventy female lawyers. But from the rest of the state? I doubt if you go over fifty. Maybe they are counting paralegals in this group with the lawyers. The other issue....would the majority of female lawyers in the state be Democrat? I seriously doubt that. This sounds like a hoax story.
in the main stream media? Consider how hard it is just to find positive conservative articles of anything to post to FR! We used to have articles posted every minute or two - nowadays, it’s a treasure hunt.
ROLFLMAO
I don’t think there are 350 atty in all of Alaska.
I live here.
This is utter BS
They should publish their names as a public service. I mean people have a right to know if your lawyer does not believe some one is innocent until proven guilty right.
Incidentally, the highest concentration of attorneys is in DC, with 1 attorney per ~every 13 people. New York is next with 1 attorney per ~every 112 people.
She is indeed the one to be most worried about because she already knows she can win an election without even having her name on the ballot with her own party opposing her. She won as a write-in candidate in 2010. So she isn’t afraid of losing a primary even though her state is a GOP state that went for Trump. Collins is another story - and Trump also nearly carried her state and even won an electoral vote there for the first time for a GOP candidate since 1984.
You always post the most interesting photos. :)
Judge Kavanaugh's conduct during his confirmation hearing fell far short of our standards as citizens and as lawyers... He displayed uncontrolled anger, sarcasm, and open contempt of Senators particularly female Senators and he made numerous unapologetically partisan statements.
Unapologetically partisan statement, like putting a signature on DNC boilerplate. Oh wait, that was the 350 Demwits from Alaska. The rest of the claims are also bull****.
“Wow. Hundreds of female lawyers.”
SNAP! Just when exile was starting to work, along comes Kavanaugh!
“Murkowski and Sullivan better vote the correct way or else.”
Between “or else” and mob rule, Ma Grizz has put the word out...
