Joe Manchin: I’m Looking at Kavanaugh’s Life ‘from 22 to 53’ to Decide Vote
Breitbart ^ | 10/04/2018 | Jushua Caplan

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) signaled in an interview published Thursday that decades-old sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh will not play a major role in his vote on the judge’s Supreme Court confirmation. Manchin, a key Democrat swing vote, lamented the Senate Judiciary Committee’s handling of its investigation into allegations against Kavanaugh, describing the previous few weeks as “horrible” and a “circus.”

“I am looking at the gentleman as an adult from 22 to 53, thirty-one years of professional service,” Manchin told Al-Jazeera. “I am looking at him as a father. As a person in a community, how he interacts with his community. I am trying to put the human side to it.”

The red state Democrat made similar remarks told Fox News’ Chad Pergram Wednesday afternoon.

Manchin’s remarks come as Democrat Senators have begun ratcheting up criticism of the FBI’s findings. Sen. Chris Coons (D-CT) expressed concern Thursday morning that the agency did not interview Kavanaugh or his first accuser, California psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford.

If all of the republicans vote yes, it won’t matter if Joe votes yes or no. The only consideration might be where on the clock Joe voted. He could be rewarded if he votes early, but I think the people will realize that he’s on Chucky’s team, all things considered, and send him packing.

The only savior would be IF Joe cast the single winning vote. I believe he’d be rewarded.

No matter what his vote, Joe needs to be sent packing.

I suspect he won't be. Last I checked he was up by nine. His ads all paint Morrissey as a carpetbagger and tool of Big Pharma who wants to take away your healthcare and (inexplicably) pours opioids down the throats of West Virginians.

The only thing that could appear to make this race competitive is a no vote on Kavanaugh.

[Surprised to see Sasse at 98.6]

Sasse is extremely right-wing. He just doesn’t like Trump’s table manners.

I believe that’s what’s being said. At first glance I thought he was lining up with the Democrats. I think this is a subtle way of saying he’ll be a “yes”.

Well, time will tell. If he goes “yes” the Democrat Jihad from Huff Po and DU will go nuts. As usual.

But he will have done the right thing.

Let’s see what happens.

Why isn’t Morrissey hammering away at Manchin’s Mylan Labs connection?

I’ve been trying to tell you, though its like shouting into the wind...

This is a 52-55 vote to confirm, PERIOD.

Machine was ALWAYS a yes.... the only way, and i do mean ONLY way he votes no is if his yes vote would make it 50 votes.

As long as the GOP has 50 votes among its ranks a few red state senators will cross over, just like they did for Gorsuch....

Manchin was NEVER EVER “on the fence”...

He couldn’t say yes, because his vote CANNOT be the one that causes confirmation... But provided there were 50 or more GOP votes, he was NEVER going to vote no...

Expect Donnelly to likely be one of those 52-55 as well... Because while he stupidly said NO right after the hearing ended, less than 48 hours later he backtracked to Maybe as he saw the polling...

A few more red state D’s are in the same boat, they will vote YES as long as their yes isn’t the one that puts it at 50....

52-55 yes votes and Kavanaugh is seated on the Supreme Court.

I agree, his anti 2nd Amendment attitude during the last dictatorship was enough to come to that conclusion.

It sounds like he will be voting for Kavanaugh, based on those words.

Great question. I ask myself that every time I see these stupid ads.

My guess is because he’s probably got ties to big donors that can be spun doing the same sorts of things...

Hammer Manchin on voting against the Tax Cuts that put WV back to work.. and for voting for things that shut down coal during the Obama years... etc etc etc..

Manchin was the most likely red state D to survive this fall, even though I thought he would lose... after Kavanaugh fiasco, I can’t see any way, regardless of how he votes on Kavanaugh, that WV will re-elect him.

Trump carried the state 68-26. Manchin is just begging to lose.

Approximately 40 million people who get their incomes from the various levels of government are getting off work now, and tomorrow is Friday. The confirmation vote might be Saturday. So Friday will be the day for all of the progressive gov’t income recipients to soak or toke all of the negatives away and make themselves happy for a couple of days. :-)

So Manchin’s thinking about voting yes for confirmation and getting the vote again after all. Have to give him credit for that. Wise move.

Hateful Heidi is way down so she had nothing to lose or gain, Joe must Go is up and has survived his state electorate before. He actually has something to lose. His comments that he is looking at Kavanaugh after the age of 22 is telling. Outside of these youth antics the record is stellar. So Joe may not be a No.

Why isn’t Morrissey hammering away at Manchin’s Mylan Labs connection?

Mylan Pharmaceutical is a major employer in Northern WV. This is an area where Morrissey needs as many votes as he can get.

What the bastard is doing is trying to get promises of pork for his vote, but he will never vote yes until he isn’t needed.

“I am looking at the gentleman as an adult from 22 to 53, thirty-one years of professional service,” Manchin told Al-Jazeera. “I am looking at him as a father. As a person in a community. . ."

Anything can happen, but--this seems like an unequivocal "Yes" signal. It's like saying, "I'm not playing the Democratic Party's kneecapping game."

If he says he isn't looking before 22, he's giving a finger to all the hard work and slander of all the important players, since that's all they talked about. Then he has the temerity to call Kavanaugh a "gentleman," "professional," and "father," when he's supposed to damn him—because patriarchy and privilege or something.

Now, I don't know the 4-D chess of all these things, but it looks as if he's giving WVa voters the signal, "I'm not going to diss your President or his judge," and he wants it to sink in before Election Day, so he gets credit for that. It also strikes me that if he turns against Kavanaugh based on no additional evidence, his voters might hang him as a traitor.
