Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) doubled down Tuesday on his vow to hold a vote by the end of the week on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, saying he was the victim of open floodgates of mud and muck.
One thing we know for sure: The Senate will vote on Judge Kavanaugh here on this floor, this week, McConnell said during a floor speech in which he also dismissed some recent media reports about Kavanaughs decades-old behavior.
His comments come as Democrats are pressing for a more expansive FBI investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh. On Monday, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee called for FBI interviews of about two dozen people who might have information relevant to three Kavanaugh accusers.
McConnell characterized that as a part of an ongoing effort by Democrats to move the goal posts on Kavanaughs confirmation and predicted they would be unsatisfied when the FBI completes its work this week.
Democrats, McConnell said, will not be satisfied unless they have brought down Judge Kavanaughs nomination.

Reuters reporting DiFi says that’s too soon. Color me shocked! LOL
Buckeye McFrog, going to disagree with you on this one. If we fail to get Judge Kavanaugh confirmed it is a definite loss. The Democrats and aiding RINOs will always seek to cut the goal in half. If Republicans accept just a vote as a Win this time around, trust me, it will be so much worse the next time around. Never, ever, give Democrats and RINOs anything. It’s a true sticking point.
But, we can lose Flake and still win with 50 votes.
"One thing we know for sure...a vote...on this floor...this week."
If you are correct, on the basis of that statement, he has the votes today.
Don't mean to put you in a vise...and he may already hold the Dem's concession in his hands. (If so, and not to second-guess him, one wonders what he paid for it.)
Interesting, never thought of that. I do know that Mitch seems to be born-again since he was attacked by those SJWs.
Will Dr. Ford be investigated by the FBI EVER? If not...Why not? Does anyone have an answer....Christine should be investigated NOW.
This will be a signal to the dems to activate bimbo #4 (or is it 5?)
I wish the entire dem party a swift end to their suffering here on Earth, and an instantaneous entry into eternal hell fire.
Ask me what I think.
Well the GOP has 51 votes. That’s why.
Why would you expect Kavanaugh to be used as an election tool?
I suggest The Turdle lines up enough votes to get him through
on the vote.
Will Democrats deny a quorum?
Hate to say it, but whatever it is, it's worth it. Logrolling is a fact of life, and in this case it may save our country.
“He better call Flake, Collins and Murkowski into his office.”
I have to believe that he knows something we don’t.
You can expect a fire alarm to be pulled or a bomb scare on capital hill just prior to the vote. Nothings too underhanded, immature or sophomoric for this group of dems.
Let’s face it. The next SCOTUS nomination is going to be
HORRIBLE
HORRIBLE
HORRIBLE!
That will be true regardless of what happens to Judge K in this case. That is virtually assured since the GOP caved on the Biden Principle and brought the FBI back in to investigate. All future nominees will now face endless rounds of delays as the FBI investigates last-minute spurious charges.
On the other hand look at the upsides of a vote. If it’s yea we get a solid Conservative on the court. One with the added benefit of having a case of red arse about the Left that is likely to linger for decades.
If it’s a no Collins and Murkowski have ended their careers. Two vexsome RINOS GONE! Manchin, Heitkamp and who knows how many other Red State Democrats GONE as they self-immolate by casting no votes.
If Kavanaugh is confirmed and Red Staters like Manchin choose to vote yea it will touch off an even more bitter civil war within the Democrat Party.
All of which leads to a bigger Conservative Senate where Trump can nominate anyone he chooses. Even Kavanaugh for a second time.
I don’t see any real downside for us here.
I think they call that anthropomorphism - assigning living characteristics like brains to inanimate objects like politicians.
I asked that question on another thread this morning, the answer I got was as of now the fbi has not contacted her.
What leverage does the Turtle have over Flake? None, as far as I can tell.
Flake is auditioning for a Fake News commentator position. That’s all that matters to him.
Trump’s got this. He’s a no-holds-barred fighter who despises losing. Not to sound sacreligious, but if he nominated Jesus, the dems would make the confirmation ugly. That’s just the way it is. It’s gone full tribal, and guess what, the tribal stuff looks worse on the minority party than it does on the majority party. People have an innate sense of “tough, you lost the senate, get ‘em next time if you don’t like the election results”. Over time, independent people will tire of this full-court press crap. And you know it’s firing up us republicans.
Dems expected the trashing of Judge Kavanaugh to energize their own base.
And they expected as the intensity of the attack increased Judge Kavanaugh would withdraw.
But Kavanaugh proved to be of tougher stuff and they failed to force him to withdraw.
When that happened they doubled down, went Full Retard and ramped up to a Scorched Earth attack.
But I think that by going Full Retard they succeeded in energizing Kavanaugh supporters as much or perhaps even more.
Now I believe they have trashed themselves into a corner and awakened republicans and conservatives.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a Senate failure to approve the nomination brought out just as many, or more, anti-democrat voters as a vote to approve.
Mitch should tell DiFi to STFU or he will include her in the investigation and bring her up on ethics charges. What hoodspa this beatch has.
