It was a surreal moment in the middle of a surreal news cycle. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) and his Republican challenger, Scott Wagner, sat on stage, their faces frozen and their hands clasped. And Alex Trebek, the Jeopardy! host and the moderator of Monday nights debate, let loose, joking that the only thing with a lower approval rating than the Pennsylvania legislature was the Catholic Church.
Polite laughter from the audience quickly turned to boos. Trebek, dressed in a purple flowered tie with a matching pocket square, looked out at the crowd watching the two candidates face off at an upscale hotel in Hershey, Pa.

Senate, Gov, redistricted house seats.
Yeah, definitely 4 minutes to Jeopardy...
Ouch! Hollywood Canuck Trebek apparently had no idea how heavily Catholic this state is (and how that’s a very sensitive subject).
Lord, what a stupid opening. I would have thought the man had more sense. I guess he’s like most Democrats, being fed lines he should read whether he understands them or not.
Nothing like offending several groups at once with that statement.
Two things you DO NOT JOKE ABOUT in public...................Religion and Sex.................
The GOP is DEAD in PA this year...
There is absolutely NO excitement, buzz or enthusiasm for ANY of the candidates.... NADA
Wolf will easily win re-election and Casey will return to the senate..
Even the Kavanaugh bump, won’t be able to make these races competitive...
The GOP abjectly sucks in PA this year... the Governor candidate is a non starter.. and the Senate Candidate who from what I see of the guy seems okay,(and its not much) has all the traction of ice....
GOP completely screwed the pooch this time.
I’ll take Dumbass Jokes for $500, Alex................
Wow, that is really disappointing to hear. PA was a big part of Trump’s success too. We need PA bigtime in the future.
I was hoping that Barletta would make it a close race for Casey, who basically does nothing in the Senate.
I have watched Jeopardy since the Art Fleming days and mechanical board. I am not necessarily blaming Trebek but in the last few years a lot of the questions come with built in leftist opinions.
Fir instance one in which Che Guevara is said to be a “freedom fighter”. Lots more recently but can’t remember them off hand.
I live in Western PA, and it seems the major GOP candidates aren’t even running TV commercials. Meanwhile, Wolf, Casey, and the House candidates are blanketing the airways, much of it with negative advertising against their opponents.
The GOP doesn’t have a chance.
Is Rob Gleason (John Murtha’s old pal) still the PA GOP Chair?
I’ll take 500, on the gun control issue, Alex.
Okay. Name the organization that was founded in 1876 as a sporting group and evolved into a civil rights organization as well.
Umm, NRA?
Yes. Please place your answer in the form of a question.
What is the NRA?
Suck it, Trebek!
Barletta is really popular in Northeast PA, I was hoping that with Trump winning the state in 2016, we could see an upset over Casey.
Ill take Alex saying dumbshit for 1000 Alex.
You have to remember that these are the same voters who voted out a Governor because he fired a pedophile-enabler.
I watch Jeopardy. Going by his banter there, he seems to be a liberal, who tries to keep it hidden. He also seems to look down on Pat Sajak.
My house has been canvassed FIVE TIMES by Democrats working with Wolf and Casey. I have seen ZERO Republican canvassers. Barletta and Wagner are ghosts, I don’t even see yard signs for Lou.
I fear Casey will coast because he’s invisible and hasn’t made any major public statements attacking Trump or Kavanaugh.
I have no idea what the GOP is doing, from what I can tell they have used absolutely zero resources.
Ohio looks just as bad, although DeWine may pull of a victory for Governor. Both our states should be battlegrounds, not Likely D. The ground-game should match 2010 and 2014, and I don’t see it at all.
