President Trump Concedes – Requests “limited” FBI

(snip) --- If President Trump, or any executive branch official acting on his behalf, attempts to set limits on the FBI investigation of a supreme court nominee, the President will have established the legal grounds for his impeachment. I know these people. I know their playbook. As Mr. Bromwich and Ms. Katz stated this is “a step in their process“.

Ms. Ford will avoid being available for an interview for as long as possible. She will then provide a name of a critical witness…. who will also avoid being available for an interview for a long as possible…. who will eventually also give a name of a corroborating witness, perhaps with recordings,… who will avoid being available for an interview for as long as possible…. And so it will go, and so it will go.

Within each step, each day in the process, the insider narrative engineers will be leaking “explosive developments” to the media; who will engage their readers with constructs of wide-eyed interest. Everyone will be enthralled; thousands of leads will be developed; the nation will be absorbed… Democrats will control every nuance.

This is just the way it is. Just like the electorate believes in “muh Russia”.

I will continue to outline the predictable democrat plays as tripwires in advance of them being triggered; hopefully, this will allow us to discuss honestly what is happening.

That said, I disagree completely with this decision by President Trump to defer to the Senate. Even with a tenuous outcome likely, in my brutally honest opinion Mitch McConnell should have been forced to hold a cloture vote on Monday, and a full vote on Tuesday.

The article referenced their playbook. Part of that play book right now is to use the FBI to delay and stall, and hopefully find just one word they can latch onto to push this confirmation process further out. No doubt there are people high up in the FBI who are inclined to want to do their bidding.

With respect to the rest of the article I do agree that McConnell should have forced the vote. This would have put the RINOs in the positions of having to vote for uncorroborated testimony OR vote to destroy both their party and the USSC confirmation process. The damage from the latter would be significant and long lasting.

Kavanaugh may have been a casualty, but he may still be in the end. Like you, I’m not sure about anything anymore.

I 100% agree.

Trump’s biggest mistake of his presidency he got set up and fell for it.

Vote should have been forced. The fence sitters bluff called. If Kavanaugh lost so be it. Nominate the next one.

I have been Trump train all along..my heart sank yesterday knowing this is the beginning of the end.

So since we’re investigating things...whatever happened with the guy who interviewed with the Judiciary committee twice who said it was him and not Kavanaugh?

Seems that it just disappeared into the ether.

The only ones who can prevent the Kavanaugh confirmation are the Reps. The Dems can’t stop it. The Stupid Party must defeat the Evil Party or go the way of the Whigs.

The vote can still be held prior to the midterms. McConnell controls it.

Then he should nominate someone else. Plenty of good conservative judges. Likely less of a drunkard too.

Bigger principles here. The entire GOP electorate was united after Ks testimony then the GOP threw that all away for one lame duck asshole Senator.

Biggest mistake of the Trump era matk my words

When you don’t have enough conservative votes you have to lean on the RINOs you are at their mercy that is why the midterms is so important to add 3 to 5 new conservative GOP senators, that will take the power away from those three.

The agents will likely be brought in on Saturday and lay out three days of attempted contacts and sworn statements. Half the people contacted will stall because of the word ‘sworn’ and want to contact their lawyers before they say anything. Most who are pro-Kavanaugh....will make a statement. By Thursday morning....they have to all go back....huddle....then start writing their summaries. Just my own guess, but it might add up to 900 to 1,100 pages...simple raw summary. By next Sunday, they will hand it to some printing agency to print out 1,500 copies.

The Senators will get this, and flip out....they can’t possibly read the 900-plus summary. So they will go and pay someone to write a summary of the summary (maybe 40 pages). The value of this entire effort? Probably zero, but Trump and the FBI can say that there is simply nothing there to back up Ford’s whole story....which even if it were true....by Maryland law of 1982....this was misdemeanor crime. What can some Democratic Senators make out of a misdemeanor crime?

I just hope people are listening to Trump, and going to vote R to give him a bigger/better majority. He is asking for people to vote, not protest by staying home.

How can you investigate if the statute of limitations has expired

They are investigating a potential 'misdemeanor' at best which has never been reported and is beyond the statute of limitations for a legal investigation...

The stupidest words ever written by Sundance.

NO! Not enough time to nominate ANOTHER person, because vetting takes lots of time.

1 week delay is not serious. That puts vote to confirm month before election.

Note that FBI does not make the decision to confirm Kavanaugh. That power is only for US Senate. Not the president, not the VP, Not the House of Reps, Not the DOJ, Not the FBI, and not the people.

FBI can investigate for 69 weeks, it does not hold up the confirmation. Majority Leader McConnell can call for confirmation vote a week after FBI has been ordered by the POTUS to begin investigation, which was yesterday. So the confirmation vote can be scheduled for next Friday or Saturday. Even if FBI agent Strozk is assigned to investigate and takes 2 years, it makes no difference.

The premise of this article is wrong. There is no impeachment risk in Trump’s actions on this matter. Certainly, the Democrats will continue to try to stall using every trick in the book and several that aren’t in the book. But, I think that the FBI will deliver their report on time and it will follow the format of all of FBI Background Investigations done for Federal appointees. No one is going off the reservation on this one, there is nothing in it for the FBI.

This is a pro forma investigation that is not likely to touch Kavanaugh, but could produce unseemly actions on the part of Dr. Ford and/or the Democrats. Their skirts are not clean in all of this and have more exposure than does Judge Kavanaugh.

Counting the week starts as soon as POTUS orders FBI to begin. My understanding is POTUS already did that yesterday.

Most of us believe the FBI investigation will be a sham .....BUT.....the resultant FBI report is handed off to Trump.
That is the key here.

But the FBI will leak it to the press before Trump gets it...

“So the confirmation vote can be scheduled for next Friday or Saturday. “

As a voter I am a very strong advocate for setting a date and holding the vote, no matter what. I want to know just how thick the toilet scum is.

However, Republican leaders don’t see things my way and will not hold a vote until they know they have the votes.
