There was a subtle fact to be learned from Christine Blasey Ford's testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday. No, not merely that she lied about being afraid to fly on airplanes so she could delay the hearing as long as possible.
I'm referring to the mysterious incident in the bathroom. Press reports indicated that she claimed that Brett Kavanaugh "corralled" her into an upstairs bedroom. Now we have more detail: that Ms. Ford went to an upstairs bathroom, and when she came out, Kavanaugh dragged her into a bedroom.
My question is, why did Ms. Ford use an upstairs bathroom? Nearly all suburban homes near country clubs in America have bathrooms on the ground floor. Perhaps it was occupied, but Ms. Ford, who clearly remembers going to the bathroom, didn't even mention its existence.
If there had been a bathroom on the ground floor, as seems likely, and Ms. Ford could have used it, then there was no reason for her to use a bathroom upstairs. The only reason for Ms. Ford to go upstairs would be to go to a bedroom, with someone at this party.
This is what I believe is most likely to have occurred.

I'm not a lawyer, but I remember the 5th being used many times in Senate testimony after whispering between lawyers/client. As a matter of fact, I believe the only exception to the 5th is in Grand Jury testimony which is only used to decide if there is enough evidence to proceed to indictment.
Excellent points and just what I’ve been thinking. I didn’t know any kids from other high schools. But mine was a co-ed public school. Maybe their two schools had joint functions because they were all-girl and all-boy schools. But that issue has not been raised to my knowledge.
I think it is a manufactured memory that maybe blends some real life incident(s) with a pure fantasy she concocted and that has become real to her.
Do you know if her husband or parents attended the hearing?
If not, you can add that to the Don’t Add Up list.
If you make an allegation in a sworn statement and then plead the 5th, then your allegation is basically null and void.
Good insights. Thanks for that. I didn’t fully appreciate that there wasn’t much mingling between Catholic and secular schools, but that jibes with my experience in public high school and with my niece and nephews at Catholic schools.
Again, that proves my point about a lawyer you can trust. Ford could have been in a situation where the 5th was appropriate, even if it meant Ford's previous statement is thrown out. Better to withdraw allegations than face a felony perjury charge.
The lay person typically doesn't know the law, including you and me, and can easily be tricked into self-incrimination. That's why Trump has been advised not to testify to Mueller. That's the whole point of the 5th as well. A lawyer representing Fineswine while pretending to represent Ford - Katz - could possibly allow Ford to self-incriminate to protect her real client from repercussions or legal action.
What I'm getting at here is Fineswine has everything to gain from having her own lawyer pretending to be Ford's lawyer. I don't believe Katz was acting in Ford's best interest. It could also explain a lot of the inconsistencies in the delay period between the leaked allegations and the hearing.
Like I said before, I can't imagine how anyone other than a party represented by a professional would have any standing to file an ethics complaint related to an alleged conflict of interest.
As far as Fineswine and Katz, nothing will become of that. The Senate rarely eats its own.
FRegards.
Correct.
But yes, there are far too many big gaps in her testimony and there is no collaboration. None of her described witnesses have supported here accusations. In fact all denied any knowledge of them. Did not remember them at all. Even her own long term friends.
AND, they fear that Judge Kavanaugh would support their prosecution for their part in the silent coup.
“someone at the FBI, who would have made sure their investigation went on at least as long as the Mueller investigation into Russian collusion”
Bump!
Agree. Very likely.
she wanted two front doors because of her claustrophobia.

Oh, finally something I can relate to!!
I have a mild form of claustrophobia. I feel suffocated if there isn’t moving air. I can actually break out on a sweat, no matter the temperature. (No idea where this comes from) I will always open a car window or a room window just a crack, if at all possible. I can survive, obviously, in situations without cross-current air flow or in spaces other than my own, but that is my preference. It’s sort of a marital issue, because DH either shivers and turns up the heat or swelters and wants the a/c on. Sometimes he gets his way. Sometimes I get mine. It’s called compromise.
Couples therapy? Over this sort of issue? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
How the heck does two front doors alleviate claustrophobia, anyway? Most homes have a front door, a back door, maybe a side door, sometimes a porch door or a door connected to the garage. Having a problem visualizing 2 front doors.
CBF is a whack job.
She also remembers she had ONE beer.
Also apparently two of the four were already upstairs leaving two remaining party goers and you think she couldn'tt wait so she went upstairs to go to the bathroom ?
Dont you find it a bit interesting she chose to go upstairs where the bedrooms and two boys were ?
Me thinks she is lying. Sorry
