President Donald Trump says he will sign a spending bill to avert a looming government shutdown set to begin Monday.
Speaking at the United Nations, Trump told reporters Wednesday,

Don't forget....Trump is not the problem getting wall money...It's the dear, dumb, Dems.
It’s just 9-D Quantum Chess.
Good move by President Trump. The House and Senate are concerned with the effect on the election what the MSM will promote as a “government shutdown” will have. The deal is, the Senate will give you Kavanaugh; you in turn sign the budget to avert a “shutdown”.
....and the GOP!
The mistake he made was signing the $1.3 trillion dollar budget with no wall the last time when there wasn’t an election coming up.
Is there another $1.6B in there for the wall?
Actually, I think the opposite. If Trump wanted to change the news cycle and build some interest in Midterm elections, he could say,
“I said I would never sign a spending bill like this again and I am a man of my word. If the government shuts down, so be it. I got elected, in part, to get our boarder secure and this is an important part of that. I need some more congressmen to work with that will help me execute on my campaign promises. So I need Republicans to get to the polls and vote in November.”
Then he’d point out that bloody Fedzilla doesn’t actually SHUT DOWN.
To be fair, maybe when he doesn’t have The Swamp trying to draw and quarter his SCOTUS nominee?
Sigh.
Dang. I’m gonna need a new mustard seed.
I remember him publicly musing whether to have the shutdown before or after the midterms and ultimately decided that it come after. It wasn’t that he was deciding when or the politics of having one but just the timing. Once you reject the left’s premise, you’ve already won half the battle.
OTOH, this bill is only through December 7, which I think is kind of strategically dumb if you’re planning a shutdown, but many government workers would probably enjoy the extra time off around Christmas and New Years if it lasts that long. If the GOP loses the congress, he really has nothing to lose and might as well get the shutdown started in the lame duck session. Just go play golf until they send him wall funding.
Yes, the left would certainly welcome a shutdown if they are successful in Borking Kavanaugh - another delay in hearings for Pryor or Barrett.

Yep. I remember it well.
Very disappointed, for a change, in our President.
