Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Monday defended himself against the sexual assault allegations roiling his nomination by saying he was a virgin through high school and college.
"Were talking about an allegation of sexual assault," Kavanaugh said in a clip released from his interview on Fox News Channel's "The Story with Martha MacCallum."
"Ive never sexually assaulted anyone," Kavanaugh said. "I did not have sexual intercourse or anything close to sexual intercourse in high school or for many years thereafter ... The girls from the schools I went to, and I, were friends."
"Through all these years that were in question, you were a virgin?" Fox News host Martha MacCallum asked.
"Thats correct," Kavanaugh replied, adding that he did not have sex until "many years after" college.
Neither of the two accusations regarding Kavanaugh involve sexual intercourse. Christine Blasey Ford is alleging Kavanaugh held her down and groped her over her clothes during a high school party in 1982, and Deborah Ramirez claims he exposed himself without her consent during a gathering at Yale University a few years later.
Fox News released clips from the interview throughout the evening on Monday.
At another point in the interview, Kavanaugh vowed he is "not going anywhere" despite the allegations.
"Im not going to let false accusations drive us out of this process," he said, sitting beside his wife as she nodded.
Kavanaugh during the interview denied attending the party in Ford's account.
"[I am] not questioning and have not questioned that perhaps Dr. Ford at some point in her life was sexually assaulted by someone at some place but what I know is Ive never sexually assaulted anyone," he said.
Ford has stated that she is sure Kavanaugh was the man who allegedly assaulted her in an episode that she says has caused her decades of emotional trauma.
The full interview is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. EST.
I apologize.
I wouldn’t admit I was a virgin 50 years ago even if it was true.
5.56mm
not to mention fewer out of wedlock pregnancies and STD’s!
Men who hold off on sex aren’t “virgins.” They’re just...well, nice, you know. :-)
Christians believe sex before marriage is immoral. I see nothing wrong about his answer.
Watched the interview..towards the end, it seemed like he wanted to cry, am I right? It was really sad I feel horrible for him, what he has to deal with, what his family is going through..he didn’t want to say that this is all orchestrated from the left, I would have said that..we all know what this is about, to destroy a man to protect their precious abortion
Sonny and Cher met in 1962. She was a 16-year-old high-school dropout who wanted to be a star and he was 28 and an assistant to record producer Phil Spector.
The double standard is thick on this subject.
Thanks! Brava to you, too, my dear FRiend.
He looked like that more than once.
On a Thursday, I hope he looks MAD.
I am mad just watching all of this. I think this is the most outrageous public conduct that I have ever seen in my life.
I agree, the Interview was horrible.
The Blonde thinks she is the new and improved Megyn Kelly.
Funny how she is the one that used the word “virgin”, not Judge Kavanaugh. Does she think that the phrase “did not have sexual Intercourse” needs to be explained to the ignorant masses?
Remember the good old Bill Clinton days wen the phrase “the politics of personal destruction” was spread far and wide by the DemncRats? I do.
A virgin through high school!! Me toooooo!!!!
as a school nurse at a New England boarding school I would love to know where you got that idea...maybe wishful thinking....hate to say I have no anecdotal evidence supporting your statement
Maybe... but it will be tough since they led with what they did. They didn’t expect this for sure. Anything after this... especially after the ‘pull a train’ accusation... will have lost steam and have virtually no impact at all.
“Way too much information.”
Martha came right out and asked him if he was a virgin in high school! That’s an extremely embarrassing question to ask someone on national TV. That he opened himself up to ridicule by admitting he was a virgin in high school says more about our society than it does about him. I think you’d (you in the genera l sense, not you in particular)be surprised at the number of boys and girls in high school who are virgins even in this day and age. But, in today’s culture it’s not cool to be a virgin in high school, and being one makes one a “square.” God, I weep for my country.
This is the left, this is what they do..they make death threats against CHILDREN..honestly what the hell did Kavanaugh’s CHILDREN do to deserve receiving death threats..what kind of monster sends death threats to little kids..I swear, this country, we have to save it from loons who are trying to destroy it
Actually, Kavanaugh came off as not that practiced in front of the camera.
Despite his experience as a judge, I dont think he felt very comfortable talking about his feelings.
To me, that makes him more believable.
It has nothing to do with DESERVE, and everything to do with intimidation.
The Deep State has its brownshirts!
Exactly and what I was also thinking, but didn’t post.
