The cynics — or, perhaps more precisely, the realists — believed that the Democrats were playing for time in the hopes of finding another accusation against Brett Kavanaugh. The cynics were right.
The New Yorker stooped to publish a shoddy story alleging that Kavanaugh exposed himself to a woman while he was at Yale. The alleged incident occurred at a drunken party when both were in their freshman year. What’s extraordinary is that the woman making the charge, a fellow Yale student named Deborah Ramirez, admits that she hesitated to come forward because there were such large gaps in her memory.
As the magazine puts it: “In her initial conversations with The New Yorker, she was reluctant to characterize Kavanaugh’s role in the alleged incident with certainty.” She only decided to talk, it says, “after six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney.”
Even after her new-found certainty — which happens to accord with her political interest as a Democrat — her story still contains gaps. She was drunk and didn’t directly see that it was Kavanaugh who put his penis in front of her face when she was on the floor. She says she heard someone yell out that it was Kavanaugh who had done this, and she saw him make a motion afterward that was consistent with pulling up his pants. So even she is making the charge as a matter of hearsay and interpretation.
The only other corroboration is an unidentified classmate who tells the magazine that he heard of the incident afterwards — in other words, more hearsay.

Can she tell us which character in a video game it resembled, like Stormy Daniels did? I’m pretty sure Melania was reassured that day. “Toadstool? What the hell is that woman talking about Donald?”
I don’t think that the abortion-loving left needed its Moore victory to put the wind in its sails for this one. They likely would have played it the same way regardless of Moore. This is a very much rerun of Bork and Thomas, with different allegations, characters, etc, but the same basic playbook. Whenever an appointment threatens to tip the balance against Roe v Wade, the left goes nuclear. It is total war, and they will not yield. They will employ any and every weapon at their disposal. Truth be damned. Decency be damned

On BBC radio last night, a Professor Richard Painter was repeatedly saying that the Senate should have the FBI investigate Judge Kavanaugh. He said that was what the Bush Administration would have done. Painter was in the Bush Administration. How horrible.
Obviously, some misogamists (haters against marriage) and others who hate our constitutional freedoms were running that Administration from within the Republican Party. Evil.
We do need to be ready to support President Trump at taking out the trash. We should even be ready to endure some hardships if necessary.

Bret Kavanaugh was also in the Bush administration. He has undergone many background investigations in his career including while working for Bush.
A true victim of sexual abuse does not need a lawyer or three or four lawyers. Her lawyer is the District Attorney.
My suspicion on this is that this whole thing is just a Democratic Party scheme from the start. Ms. Ford is a party operative, very well connected.
I think if the FBI went in and seized the woman’s computer and cell phone, they would see the collusion here.
However, I would not be surprised if the gal got new technology devices this month and disposed of her old stuff in the traditional method of crushing it with a hammer and throwing the pieces in the ocean.

Back then I watched the hearing for Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court.
I watched with horrid fascination the Anita Hill testimony, especially the Long Dong Silver video tapes and public hairs on a coke can claims. This is the United States Senate? The August body that is supposed to be the cooling saucer of the hot cup of populism? It was more like Jerry Springer!
I thought then, “Nothing could be possible worse. We’ve sunk to a new low.”
Boy was I wrong!
