Jill Abramson: suffering from Anita Hill flashbacks?
The author of the anti-Clarence Thomas book Strange Justice appeared on CNN this morning. Introducing her, Alisyn Camerota said, "you say that you shudder to think what will happen" when Christine Ford is questioned at Monday's scheduled Senate hearing.
Replied Abramson:
"I think that the Republicans, despite all the changes that have happened in the generations since those [Clarence Thomas] hearings, are still going to go in with a strategy to save this nomination at all costs. And if that means destroying, destroying Dr. Ford, I hate to even think about it, but I think it's going to be the same kind of political circus that we saw back in 1991. That's what worries me."

I think he means “play to the court of public opinion, not to the Senate hearing.” At least that’s the way I read it.
People who engage in these type of accusations should be severely punished, such as people who manufacture racial crimes to prove racism, or women who accuse men of sexual harassment, sexual assault, or outright rape.
What is not forbidden is allowed, and we don’t punish people who engage in it, so we shouldn’t be surprised when they use things like these as every day tools to achieve their ends.
Agreed.
Hold the hearing regardless.
Allow Kavanaugh the chance to answer questions and clear his name. Allow the friend - who was named by Ford as being present - to appear under oath and testify it never happened. Allow his girlfriends to testify they dated him then and never saw this behavior.
If she doesn’t show, it speaks for itself. She’s afraid to appear because she’s lying and will be exposed.
She scrubbed her social media. That likely had far left SCOTUS comments and other damning info.
Canceling the hearing is a mistake. Leaves the cloud present. Hold it and she can show or not show.
Unfortunately, we have yet to see ANY of them getting “fed to the lions” - figuratively or literally and it’s way past time.
True. She might believe her lie.
Problem is: She can’t say when it happened, or where it happened.
Unlike the he said/she said = guy loses Roy Moore situation, Ford made the mistake of naming specific people as witnesses (guy with last name of Judge she said was in the room, ironically).
So TWO of the three people in the room can come and testify under oath it never happened.
Christine Ford has destroyed herself already. Her life will be laid bare for all to see.

Sadly, this does seem to be true. It is largely the result of the completely insane, unhinged, out of control left. They follow the communist dictum: “The ends justify the means.” There is absolutely nothing too low, too dishonorable, too totalitarian for them.
The role of the Senate to provide “Advice and Consent” (Article II, Sec. 2, cl. 2) has been warped to a disgusting charade by Democrats.

I agree. If she is a “no show,” then the Judge can be there as well as the other guy she named who said he has no memory of such a thing happening, plus the army of women who have known the Judge from high school, the workplace, the sports field and other venues all of his adult life. They know him as a classmate, a community volunteer, a coach of their children, a neighbor, friend and colleague. Hear them out!

And then we can decide if the "sluts and nuts" claim against her is valid. I suspect both halves are.

I think the whole thing is a trap. The dems want the pubs to destroy this poor helpless victim. This is a layup before the midterms
