Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) has chosen Dr. Leana Wen as its new president.
She will fill the shoes of former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, who resigned after Planned Parenthood faced investigations into allegations it illegally sold aborted baby body parts for profit.
“I am an immigrant,” Wen said in a Wednesday video announcing her role as president. She added that she and her family depended on Planned Parenthood for healthcare when they came to America when she was eight years old.
“What we are doing is mainstream medical care,” Wen added. We must fight and “everything is at stake,” she said.
The video ends with Wen lifting her own newborn baby up into the air and smiling at him with adoration.
Wen has been pictured with groups like, “B’More For Healthy Babies,” a group dedicated to “bring[ing] together communities, organizations, and resources so that every baby might have the best start possible.”
The 35-year-old is also the author of “When Doctors Don’t Listen: How to Avoid Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Tests.” She practiced as a clinical fellow at Harvard Medical School and studied public policy and economic history at the University of Oxford.
Cecile Richards has not ruled out running for political office. “It’s not in my plans right now, but never say never,” Richards told BuzzFeed News in May.
Wen did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

The baby she uses as a prop was the same human being between conception and birth.
