In a Wednesday appearance at George Washington University Law School, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg lamented the degree to which partisanship has infected the judicial-confirmation process, calling Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanuaghs recent confirmation hearing a highly partisan show.
Contrasting Kavanaughs hearings last week with her own, which occurred in 1993, Ginsburg called the partisan grandstanding of Democrats wrong and expressed a desire to return a spirit of collegiality to the process.
The way it was was right. The way it is is wrong, Ginsburg said to applause. The atmosphere in 93 was truly bipartisan. The vote on my confirmation was 96 to three, even though I had spent about ten years of my life litigating cases under the auspices of the ACLU and I was on the ACLU board. . . . Thats the way it should be, instead of what its become, which is a highly partisan show. The Republicans move in lock step, so do the Democrats. I wish I could wave a magic wand and have it go back to the way it was.

That's because you're a far lefty democrat. In order for your hearings to have been partisan the Pubbies would have had to fight your nomination due to your extreme left wing views and total unsuitability to sit on that bench. Pubbies don't do that. They cower in the corner and vote in a way that they believe will get the media off their backs.
Nope...it's only partisan when a Republican President nominates a conservative. That's the ONLY time partisan politics plays a role.
I hope Brett sticks “Kick Me” signs on her back

Welcome to the party, pal! Her confirmation hearing wasn’t partisan because she was a Democrat-nominated justice. Only GOP-nominated justices are partisan witch-hunts (Bork, Thomas, Alito, Roberts...). Why do you think that is? That’s right... because the Democrats are the partisans!
Thank you for playing.

The way it was was right."....ya mean like the Thomas hearings and confirmation vote almost 2 years BEFORE your confirmation?
First off, I’m a Republican, always was, always been. I’m also a Christian. But I have to admit I’m ashamed at some of the remarks here. God bless our leaders and our country.
Weekend at Ruthies
The coming sequel.
Backlash is descending on the Butt Sister.
The situation has obviously gotten worse since Bork and Thomas. That’s the message of the Dems’ current behavior.
Debate last night at Federalist Society explored stare decisis v. originalism and made some fine points. That is the way to do things, not screaming into the TV cameras and disrupting a confirmation hearing. I hope all the thoughtful Dems were paying attention.
I caught part of an interview with her on Diversity in the Legal Profession, and I must admit that the way she presented made me think she is overdue to retire.
