Senate Democrats have referred a letter concerning Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to the FBI for investigation.
This matter has been referred to the FBI for investigation, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the No. 2 Senate Democrat and a member of the Judiciary Committee, told BuzzFeed News on Thursday about the letter.
A source familiar with the matter confirmed to The Hill that the letter had been referred to the FBI for investigation.
The letter has been the subject of days of intrigue on Capitol Hill but the contents of it have not been publicly disclosed by senators who have seen the document.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) was given the letter by Calif. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D), according to multiple reports.
But Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, has refused to answer multiple questions about the letter over the past two days.
She confirmed in a statement on Thursday that she had referred the matter to federal authorities.
"I have received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. That individual strongly requested confidentiality, declined to come forward or press the matter further," Feinstein said.
"I have honored that decision. I have, however, referred the matter to federal investigative authorities," she continued.
Questions about the letter boiled over on Wednesday after The Intercept published a piece saying Feinstein had refused to share the content of the letter with other members on the committee.
Sources told The Intercept that the letter was relayed by an individual affiliated with Stanford University. Some sources told the publication that it was about an incident involving Kavanaugh and a woman while they were in high school.

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin said the referral went to the FBI but also did not say what the information contained. "No idea what they are going to find," Durbin told CNN. "I think the FBI is the appropriate agency and that's where it was referred."
Of course it is. Where else would you send something you want used against a Republican politically to destroy him/her?
The FBI is truly a corrupt arm of the Democrat party -- ALL OF IT.
a he said she said I am guessing
Very conservative..and could be a great Senator or???

IN FREAKIN' HIGH SCHOOL????????
“Oooooh, a secret letter. I wonder if it was written in code or invisible ink?”
Worse; it was written in cursive.
Only applies to RAT candidates, I fear.
He got the cooties from a girl in 1st grade.
A ridiculous Hail Mary that will go nowhere. It’s from his high school years. Unless he killed someone this is a nothing burger.
“Two officials familiar with the matter say the incident detailed in the Feinstein letter involved possible sexual misconduct between Judge Kavanaugh and a woman when they were both in high school.”
What? Elbow tit?
Glen Simpson wrote it, Hillary paid for it. Rosenstein just authorized wiretaps on anyone with the letter “T” in their name. Sessions recused.
A documented wet dream moment? Ohhhh, now they have the goods.
Probably hoping to delay until Jan. 4, the day after the midterm election winners are sworn in.
I went to an all boys prep school, Didnt have a car. BUT if she ever wrote a letter about what we did, I have plausible deniability. Im over 80.i dont recall.

In other news, I can never be on the Supreme Court....
“A woman from his high school days??”
Remember people said that if the Republicans and Alabama threw Roy Moore under the bus for unsubstantiated “women” allegations, that the Democrats would see it as a successful strategy and will continue to use it. Any means necessary!
Kavanaugh testified that if a woman says no, it means NO!
Letter will be from a woman claiming she told Kavanaugh “no” or “stop” and he didn’t. Just a guess.
The movie Porky's was a true story based on Brett Kavanaugh and his friends high school escapades!
