Even by the standards of today’s political culture, it was a startling image: the talking trains from the children’s television show “Thomas & Friends,” wearing Ku Klux Klan hoods.
That was what viewers of the National Rifle Association’s online video channel saw as Dana Loesch, a spokeswoman for the gun rights group, took the show to task for diversifying its cast.
“They’ve decided that the next stop is Virtue Town,” Ms. Loesch said Friday on “Relentless,” the NRATV program that she hosts. She was responding to news that the children’s show was adding several female and international characters.

Frankly, I say this all the time.
Basically, we need to point out how pathetically self-conscious these massive PC efforts are.
I wonder when Thomas visits Africa if he will tell the Kenyan/Nigerian trains “You didn’t build that!”.
No mention in the article that Thomas the Train was being attacked by the left as “racist” and “colonialist”. Without that knowledge this article just makes the Loesch sound crazy, which is their intent.
At the first sign of a Trans Train, we will not be watching Thomas anymore.

I just literally don’t get it. Not being sarcastic here, but can someone explain why putting Thomas in a klan hood makes sense as a commentary on the show introducing say, an African train, or a Indian train (which i assume would have 700 people sitting on top).
What was she trying to say?
She's saying it's just a train, not a race. Like saying the Pixar "Cars" are all racist white people, when they're just cars. Turning the tables on the accusers.
Reminds me of the uproar about the cartoon character "Speedy Gonzales", pretty much banned now because it was deemed racist to put race on a mouse, which in effect the Thomas the Tank Engine people are doing by introducing racial characteristics on trains. PC stuff is so screwed up.

It’s clunky... at best. So is she saying Thomas should not have any diverse characters? They have all types of typical brits as I recall.
Of all the crap the NRA needs to spend time on, this ain’t it.

My brother and I were explaining “The Go-Go Gophers” to his girlfriend once. Doing the voices of the ‘Gophers and having a grand time. She protested the stereotype that the ‘Gophers were expressing and how could we find that funny? But when when we told her the ‘Gophers _always_ won their encounters with Coyotes (in US Cavalry uniforms) and went on to do the voices of the Coyotes being out-foxed by the ‘Gophers, she laughed but did a bit of an eye-roll.
