The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, said Wednesday that "Europe belongs to the Europeans" and that refugees should return to their native countries to rebuild them.
Speaking at a conference in Sweden's third-largest city of Malmo, home to a large immigrant population, the Dalai Lama -- who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 -- said Europe was "morally responsible" for helping "a refugee really facing danger against their life".
"Receive them, help them, educate them... but ultimately they should develop their own country," said the 83-year-old Tibetan who fled the capital Lhasa in fear of his life after China poured troops into the region to crush an uprising.......

I agree with everything but the “Receive them and help them develop their own country”. There are dozens of Muslim majority nations already. It is unfair to carve out ANOTHER one in Europe.
Why would they return when stupid Europeans will give them everything they need?

Good point. But it will be lost on today’s PC crowd, who are probably cheering for the Chicoms anyway.
Yeah, well, he still says they should take them in and educate them, etc. That’s proving to be almost impossible. Besides, once they are in Europe, good luck getting them to leave the comforts of the welfare state to go back to their crappy homeland.
The Dalai Lama understands the damage that can happen when a large culture attempts to destroy a smaller, beautiful and somewhat fragile culture.
And he’s right - European cultures have the right to survive and to add their unique beauty the world. (Except Germany - for obvious reasons )
You would think that "Europe belongs to Europeans" (and by extension, Asian countries to Asians, Middle Eastern countries to Arabs, etc) should be regarded as a tautology rather than a source of controversy.
However, because political correctness has nothing to do with facts, I think that statements like this might turn the Dalai Lama from the darling and hero of Hollywood and every trendy new-ager into a political tar baby overnight.
Actually, I think the Dalli Lama has more in common with Christianity than Pope Frank.
What a concept! Develop your own country. Bloom where you are planted.
Somalia is a $#*+hole country where the United Nations ought to try their glorious diversity experiment by resettling refugees from around the globe. It has the climate of Southern California, the population density of Colorado and 2,000 miles of coastline astride one of the world's busiest trade routes.
Move the UN Headquarters to Mogadishu and let them show the rest of us how to develop a model multicultural country. It isn't like Somalia is a soverign country anyway. It is a collection of warring tribes.
