Donald Trump Ordered Illegal Removal of Braille Because No Blind People are Going to Live in Trump Tower: Report
By Jessica Kwong On 9/12/18 at 2:38 PM
President Donald Trump allegedly ordered an architect not to include braille in Trump Tower elevator panels because no blind people would live in his buildingeven after being informed that excluding the tactile writing system is against federal law.
The alleged interaction was recounted by Barbara Res, who led construction at the Trump Organization, in an opinion piece in the New York Daily News on Wednesday.
"Whats this? Trump, noticing the small raised dots, reportedly asked the architect who went to his office to show what the residential elevator interiors would look like.
Braille, the architect responded.
Trump apparently demanded that the architect take the feature out.
We cant, the architect replied. Its the law.
Get rid of the [expletive] braille. No blind people are going to live in Trump Tower, Trump shouted, according to Res. Just do it.

Ha ha—my immediate thought!
Trump is evil! and he hates everyone!
These people, his enemies, are full of it! I hope they keep it up.
Totally agree.
It happened in 2016? Remember Hillary has a 95% chance of winning according to the NYT? Huffington Post Hillary at 98% Chance of winning?
Hillary wins in landslide?
Hillary will win Texas and Georgia?
This was all over the media 24/7 leading up to the election.
Nobody on the left said Trump was going to win, except for Michael Moore. I am not saying I support Michael Moore or agree with him, but he was the only one who saw the blue collar uprising out in the midwest, while everyone in New York were too busy congratulating themselves for the upcoming Hillary Victory.
And yet, here we are, believing the same polls, polsters, media heads who got it so wrong in 2016. 2018 feels a lot like 2016....
the building inspector must have missed it.
Did the architect blow the whistle? or did she suck it up and hold her tongue?
I meant to say that Michael Moore was the only one on the left that saw the blue collar uprising
since this is newsweak, did he also flush a koran down a toilet?
Ha !
Me too ;-)
Spent a lifetime in construction working with, for and around real estate owners and developers. I have no doubt such a thing could have been said. Would he insist on it and fight about it if ignored — who knows?
I had a developer after a frustrating design session throw his notebook on the floor and scream at an architect, “we aren’t building this building for some damn cripple!!!!” His assistant, the son of a judge, about had a stroke.
But you know what, he was right. Rules for fair and safe public accommodation for handicapped are important, but the ability to comply should be handled seamlessly with little impact to the property owner by a good designer.
The architect at least needs to be informed that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds the specific power to require such things for elevators.
10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
... the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Federal Constitution, is in the States, and not in the Federal Government [emphases added]. Rep. John Bingham, Congressional Globe, 1866. (See about middle of 3rd column.)
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
Crap. There goes the blind vote.
I have a feeling the Republicans are looking at taking 40 house seats and 12 senate seats because the media wouldnt be working overtime to destroy this man.
This is what winning looks like.

I want this to happen. I’m furious with the MSM. I want to stick a broom, business end first, up the a** of the MSM and make them howl with rage over their loss. They so deserve it.
Trump Tower construction completed 1983.
ADA signed into law 1990.
Notice the multiple alleges and apparently s in the article!
This same media that denounces this “evil” says it’s ok for Bill Clinton to smoke weed (but not inhale) and for Barack Obama to be a part of a militant race hating church with ties to Islamic & Leftist terrorists.
Don’t believe the media!
the Kenyan picked his nosed in public
we arent building this building for some damn cripple!!!!
Years ago my friend had a software company that they ran out of what used to be a house, but now it was just a business. All mail-order stuff. The “new” rules to be handicap accessible came through (early 80’s???). They had to build a ramp and redo a bathroom for their “business”, even though no customers ever would come to their door.
haha oops
I don’t believe this either.
Newsweek is not available in Braille.
It’s available on audio cassette though - https://www.aph.org/development/magazines/
About half way down.
Also, I have more of a problem with US money - In a country where consideration for disability is mandatory and lack thereof is punishable in fines or punishments - the US paper currency is completely treacherous to the blind.
So the biggest breaker of the government law is the government.
