Climate Change Is Everyone's Problem. Women Are Ready to Solve It ("Climate change" is sexist)
Fortune ^ | Sep. 12, 2018 | By Anne Finucaneand Anne Hidalgo

Imagine a world with affordable, clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, and decent work and economic growth for all. That is the world the United Nations imagined when it defined the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development with “the desire to create a future where there is no poverty, the planet is protected, and all the people enjoy peace and prosperity.”

But the reality is, that world can’t exist without the equal participation, and leadership, of women—as business and political leaders, investors, and contributors to the global economy.

“What on earth are ‘sustainable cities and communities...?’”

Those are those Dem-run, Sanctuary-type cities where 99.999% of The Peoples’ Tax Dollars go to funding illegals, buying Dem votes and lining office holders’ pockets.

Actually it could, and could do so quite nicely.

Not a slam at FReeper women, but a plain statement of fact. As long as someone is making good decisions their gender is irrelevant.

“Imagine a world with affordable, clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, and decent work and economic growth for all.”

Replace “Imagine” with “Once upon a time there was”

women, particularly in less developed countries, are more vulnerable to climate change disasters

That's cute. They have an opinion.

What particular expertise do they have in SOLVING potential "climate change disasters"?

Oh, yes. That's right. None. Zero. An empty void.

They can STFU.

As I’ve said Climate Change is everything to the left.

A fellow Freeper thought that abortion was everything to them. Actually abortion and sodomy are related to climate change because they allow sex without reproduction.

get rid of the UN:

12 Sept: UK Independent: This is how UN scientists are preparing for the end of capitalism
As the era of cheap energy comes to an end, capitalist thinking is struggling to solve the huge problems facing humanity. So how do we respond?
by Nafeez Ahmed
Capitalism as we know it is over. So suggests a new report commissioned by a group of scientists appointed by the UN secretary general. The main reason? We’re transitioning rapidly to a radically different global economy, due to our increasingly unsustainable exploitation of the planet’s environmental resources and the shift to less efficient energy sources.
Climate change and species extinctions are accelerating even as societies are experiencing rising inequality, unemployment, slow economic growth, rising debt levels, and impotent governments...

These crises are part of the same fundamental transition. The new era is characterised by inefficient fossil fuel production and escalating costs of climate change. Conventional capitalist economic thinking can no longer explain, predict or solve the workings of the global economy in this new age...

Why is climate change a problem? Human beings adapted in the past, and shall do so time and again in the future.

Climate change can displace things, but is there really any initiative that feeble mankind can undertake to change it one whit? Oh, on a small scale, and very locally, we can exert some control, but as the radius spreads out, the effect diminishes to infinitesimal.

Now, if the good Lord sees fit to modify climate so we have transpolar ocean traffic and raise bananas in Labrador, humanity can get accustomed. Maybe they have to leave Miami, but so what. Toledo would be nice year around.

And think of the power generation potential of a belt of solar collection panels spaced out evenly around the equator, to take advantage of the changing vector of the direct overhead sun.

I leave the problem of equitable power generation distribution to future generations, as they shall be descended from a highly adaptable people.

Just tell these women that they will no longer be allowed to adjust the thermostat because the UN will tell them what temperature to live at. Then stand back...

There is nothing good or right about this initiative.

Every "solution" to climate change involves a massive transfer of the world's wealth from rich countries to poor countries.

That does seem to be the one common denominator in all this climate change business....money changing hands. Everyone knows there is climate change & it is natural;been that way as far as we have any knowledge of such things. The thing is that when it changes, someone always claims it is man-caused,so we can do something about it. The question is this:has man ever been able to “correct” it? Their answer will be that we haven’t spent the right amount of money on it yet. If we COULD correct it,what would we correct it to?

Know what is sustainable? Capitalism.

I agree and would refine it somewhat to add "non-crony capitalism". Capitalism works best in a society built on the Constitution where the people reject "legal plunder" in all its forms.

“the desire to create a future where there is no poverty, the planet is protected, and all the people enjoy peace and prosperity.”

Because government entities have SUCH a good track record of accomplishing such goals... ahem...
