One of the things I talk about in the book is what I call this “conundrum of privilege,” which is that these parents have a lot of resources economically as well as status as white people. They can then use those resources to set up their own child’s life in ways that give them the best education, the best health care, all the best things. And we have this collectively agreed-upon idea in our society that being a “good parent” means exactly that -- providing the best opportunities you can for your own child.
But then some of these parents are also people who believe strongly in the importance of diversity and multiculturalism and who want to resist racial inequality. And these two things are sort of at odds with one another. These affluent white parents are in a position where they can set up their kids’ lives so that they’re better than other kids’ lives. So the dark side is that, ultimately, people are thinking about their own kids, and that can come at the expense of other people’s kids.

This idea that your own child is the most important thing -- that’s something we could try to rethink. When affluent white parents are making these decisions about parenting, they could consider in some way at least how their decisions will affect not only their kid, but other kids . . . My overall point is that in this moment when being a good citizen conflicts with being a good parent, I think that most white parents choose to be good parents, when, sometimes at the very least, they should choose to be good citizens.

The racism I’ve witnessed is companies hiring or promoting based on skin color instead of merit. This resulted in people getting into positions they were not qualified for who either caused the job to fail or had to be carried by the people who should have gotten the promotion. In several cases, the damage is multiplied when the person who was qualified and lost out quit for another job. Now, from the perspective of the management responsible for success, you are truly screwed.

Pure evil -the idea that there’s something wrong with striving for the best opportunities for yourself and your family, that there is some obligation to diminish standards to make things “fair”.
This is the essence of the Communism that has taken over the Democrat party, and it’s what we’ll get if every conservative doesn’t get out and vote in the coming election.
Does anyone even want to contest the idea that current sociology has devolved into a pseudo-academic discipline?
The only sociologist I gave any credence to is Rodney Stark. Go read his books they’re worth it!
Hard work and responsible choices = White Priviledge
It’s got nothing to do with skin color.
The main alternative to doing what is best for your children...is NOT doing what is best for your children.
You are in the best position to determine what is best for your children - often by an enormous amount. If you don’t do what is best for your children, then most likely no one else will.
The biggest “privilege” there is, is having two parents who marry before pregnancy, and stay married through the raising of the child.

They are trying to shame White successful families. What they do for their kids comes at no expense at all for minority kids.
Minority kids have parents who can fend for them.

Families are not equal under Socialism. The government “bosses” live on another economic level.

Somehow, I don't think so.
Remember, even pot-smoking layabouts need groceries in their stores and their plumbing to work. Somebody in the next generation needs to be a productive citizen. We can't afford for all of them to be drug addicts and Womyn's Studies professors.
