Thank you. This is helpful.
upper east Tennessee.
2 or 10? Well see.
Norris lake ~3 below flood stage, well see what happens next week
Fontanas been maxed all Summer, it may not be pretty
Lower Tva well outside of the rain event
I sure wouldn’t bet on only a few inches of rain in the farthest out areas. Might be a more than few inches a day for several days on already saturated areas or in hill country. Very inconvenient flooding if not disastrous.
You are welcome. Also you may want to keep an eye on the Richmond times Dispatch.
Richmond Times Dispatch???
Nonono....
Their models suck.
Go to Dave Tolleris on FB.
I gave a weather link, but that wasn’t really my point. They would likely have local news that could be relevant for decision making.
Thank you very much
Thank you. It is really looking like we should cancel this trip, but may wait 24 hours before final decision.
It has been a few years now, but a buddy of mine rented a condo in Florida on the west coast about this time of year. It looked like a hurricane was going to to hit the east coast of Florida. The condo owner called up and said don’t come down until it blows over. Everybody on the east cost will be on the west coast. Roads will be clogged, etc. They flew down the next week and a great time.
Hatteras Yacht is in New Bern
For right now, it looks like 15-20 inches of rain is within the range of possibility for much of Virginia. We were going to fly to Richmond, then go to Charlottesville, Luray/Woodstock, National Museum of Marine Corps, and then Williamsburg area. If the storm is as bad a being predicted, there could be issues with power, flooded/washed out roads, people displaced from coastal areas, etc. We really cannot be out of town in the following 2 weeks, and I would be hesitant to even try to go in a few weeks, in case there are remaining issues. PLUS this (next week) is the week I took off work, and don’t think they would be too excited for me to change it now.
Ouch. Hope everything works out without a major financial loss...
Now the info at this link doesn’t seem to be nearly as serious for Virginia’s outlook. Who to believe?

I happened to hear Joe Bastardi on Hannity’s show a little while ago, and he was talking about the storm shifing to a more westerly path, which is bad news for SC and northern GA, but good news for VA. The latest model runs seem to show that.
I don't think it is a matter of whom to believe. Weather forecasting changes constantly. We had remnants of TS Gordon headed our way. Forecasts had 5 to 8 inches of rain in our area. We ended up with 4 inches. It rained the entire time though. There wasn't anything to do outside.
Yes, understand. We get stuff like that in Nebraska frequently, as relates to both summer storms (tornadoes, hailstorms), and winter blizzards and ice.
I have been watching the National Hurricane Center tracking projections, which seem to update every several hours, and also has that predicted rainfall map. The newest info seems much more favorable for Virginia.
