It has been a few years now, but a buddy of mine rented a condo in Florida on the west coast about this time of year. It looked like a hurricane was going to to hit the east coast of Florida. The condo owner called up and said don’t come down until it blows over. Everybody on the east cost will be on the west coast. Roads will be clogged, etc. They flew down the next week and a great time.
For right now, it looks like 15-20 inches of rain is within the range of possibility for much of Virginia. We were going to fly to Richmond, then go to Charlottesville, Luray/Woodstock, National Museum of Marine Corps, and then Williamsburg area. If the storm is as bad a being predicted, there could be issues with power, flooded/washed out roads, people displaced from coastal areas, etc. We really cannot be out of town in the following 2 weeks, and I would be hesitant to even try to go in a few weeks, in case there are remaining issues. PLUS this (next week) is the week I took off work, and don’t think they would be too excited for me to change it now.
