Ten National Football League (NFL) players from six teams protested, in one way or another, during the playing of the National Anthem in the first week of NFL regular season games.
While ESPN reports that only two players knelt during the Anthem, three others raised a fist in protest, one sat on the bench and four more boycotted the Anthem in protest by hiding out in their stadiums tunnels as it played.
Philadelphia Eagles (1): Defensive End Michael Bennett sat on the bench during the playing of the National Anthem prior to Thursday Nights NFL season-opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
Miami Dolphins (3): Receiver Kenny Stills and Receiver Albert Wilson knelt during the anthem and Robert Quinn raised his fist in protest.
San Francisco 49ers (1): Receiver Marquise Goodwin raised a fist during the Anthem.
Los Angeles Chargers (1): Tackle Russell Okung raised a fist in protest.
Denver Broncos (2): Receiver Demaryius Thomas and Linebacker Brandon Marshall boycotted the Anthem by going into the stadiums tunnel during the National Anthem.
Seattle Seahawks (2): Lineman Duane Brown and Lineman Quinton Jefferson boycotted the Anthem, returning to the field after it finished playing.
ESPN has announced it will not broadcast the National Anthem for any of the Monday Night Football games, including this weeks matchup between the New York Jets and Detroit Lions.
As if we needed another reason not to tune in to ESPN’s MNF, they have the most boring anouncer, she sounds like a dying cow, its sooo painful to listen to. Can’t watch, can’t listen. Perfect time to finish reading my book of the month.
Wont be watching...
Children raised in fatherless homes, especially black children, are far more likely than children raised in two-parent homes to engage in criminal behavior and thus, have contact with police. Thus when they father a child with a woman to whom they are not married - or at least living with - they are contributing to the problem against which these football players are taking a knee. If you look at many of these players’ records on out-of-wedlock children, you find that they are contributing significantly to the problem against which they are protesting.
For example, Antonio Cromartie has 12 children by 9 different women. Apparently, the NFL had to shell out $500,000 before he could even play football for them.
Travis Henry has 11 children by 10 women,
Willis McGahee has 9 children by 8 women,
Derrick Thomas has 7 children by 5 different women,
Bennie Blades has 6 children by 6 women,
Ray Lewis has 6 children by 4 women and
Marshall Faulk has 6 children by 3 women.
They forgot to include Adrian Peterson. 11 kids from 7 different women?
Before these guys take a knee they should take a good look in the mirror. It appears that their problem is not the knee.
Definitely r strategists, and not K strategists. :P
