Northfield. I assume you attended Norwich. I was a great admirer of the US Marine ROTC program there. I frequently attended the US Marine birthday ball at Norwich every 10th November. My son applied there for Marine ROTC as a high school senior, but went in a different direction, now lives in Japan.
Still waiting for one of the assclowns to tell me what they’re saying resisting. NOT getting their way seems to be the biggest gripe. Oh well. Dealing with losing is not one of their strengths.
About time.
Back to civilization....good.
OMG! Does that mean that early 19th Century rules on the 2nd Amendment will be back in force? I especially like the Nunn VS. Ga ruling, a state court ruling on the 2nd.
Nunn v. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846).
“’The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed.’ The right of the whole people,
old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every
description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or
broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing
up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State.”
It is a different place than it was in the late 70s.
Its funny, when I was there I never noticed how gorgeous it was on a crisp fall day. In early February? A different kind of weather.
Actually, the revision is to the 18th century and the founding fathers and the Constitution.
. . . in the sense that its majority will be controlled by Justices who were selected and confirmed for their devotion to the Constitution, intellectual honesty, and judicial temperament.IOW, two of the justices in the majority will have been selected without regard to what the 41st worst Democrat Senator has been willing to accept.
That crisp clear mountain air is the one thing I really miss about Vermont.
Early February. If you take one step oout of the door, you slide clear to the bottom of the hill, LOL. Thunder and lightning in February, seen it many times.
“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.
Truth is slowly working it's way into the American conscience...
The Louisiana govt of that time was a puppet regime. This piece is terrible.
I smile bigly to think of the Soto and Kagin and how thrilled they likely were and have been on the SC - BUT as Trump gets his picks, these women may no longer be so thrilled and hopefully will not be on SC for long.
The author is upset that the USSC ruled the 14th Amendment applied only to states, and not to individuals.
As a result, Federal authorities could not be used to enforce it against the various racist militias that emerged during Reconstruction...unless they were officially supported by a state.
This is a KEY difference between Conservatives and Liberals.
Liberals are more concerned about the OUTCOME of law. They believe any law can be adjusted, or enforced in such a way as to achieve a desired outcome.
Conservatives are more concerned about the law than the outcome. If the outcome is not what is desired, make new law. But preserve the rule of law.
In fact, it may be the ESSENTIAL difference between Conservatives and Liberals.
In 79-80 there were 20 days in a row under 10. And most of a month without breaking 20. They stopped formations because it was so cold.
40 years later and times in places that are supposed to be coldthat was the coldest ive Ever been in my life. Just bitter.
What gave it away?
Every Repub in Washington should be shouting it from the rooftops whenever a rat calls them racists or tears down a confederate statue. Make the rats explain or deny it.
