Dallas police say one of their officers was going home after her shift when she walked into the wrong apartment and shot and killed the man inside.
The officer was in full uniform just after 10 p.m. Thursday evening when she walked into an apartment unit she believed to be her own at the 1200 block of South Lamar, about a quarter-mile from the Dallas Police Department.

A family member of Jean told St. Lucia Times that he lived in a gated community in Dallas and alleged that the police officers key was found in the lock of the door of the apartment belonging to the deceased, after she tried unsuccessfully to open it.
From this, it sounds like she tried to unlock the door, he heard someone messing with the lock, opened the door to find out who. When he opened the door, she drew her side arm and fired.
I suspect that's why she killed him.
I hope she got a blood test.
Yup. Suspicions about her sobriety are the first thing that came to mind.
It is sometimes referred to as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Exceptions dont make rules
Who says African American
I know freepers are loathe to actually read the article much less the background
The victim was a black man from St Lucia and graduated from HARDING COLLEGE in Arkansas
Which means he likely was one of us
A conservative
Harding is a Church of Christ college like Lipscomb or ACU
just so we know
RIP
I found the case number: 198543-2018, in case somebody wants to look it up. I tried to search it on DPD/County website, but it is not available yet. I gotta scoot.
I was thinking that usually in these cases the name of the shooter is out there by now?
Theyre taking their time. As of the departments statement this morning, probably 10 hours after the fact, they hadnt interviewed the officer yet.
I hope they thought to get drug/alcohol tests from her.
Summer evening. Storm door
Last night's *crime* was some Schizophrenic Black Guy who randomly bashed in an innocent woman's head with a rock.
But the *show* was about an eeeevil greeeeeedy corporate middle-class white dude, who allowed him to be on the street. Because Money, or something. Like I said, no matter how convoluted the plot.....
Standards have been lowered
A former miltiary friend of mine has been with DPD for >25 years. He tells me that the pension system was mismanaged and pay has been cut.
Qualified sorts will go to other departments.
......glad ya got out alive bub.
They haven't ID'd the cop yet.
You or I would have been perp walked and sitting in jail. Our face and name (with middle name included) would be all over the media.
This cop was sent home to cool off and get her story together.
Did you evern read the story.
The cop is female.
What would happen to JQPUBLIC taxpayer citizen if he/she entered the wrong dwelling and killed legitimate homeownwer?
Regardless of the circumstances such as drunk or under the influence the person who pulled the trigger would face significant charges and likely found guilty.
The same thing should happen to this cop, even more charges as the cop should be more responsible and aware.
The guy is in his own apartment, and gets shot by someone who tries to enter the wrong apartment.
How much more detail do you need?
That’s better. Whew.
No one deserves to open their door to get shot.
With a few exceptions - you know who I mean.
