Cory Booker says he will 'knowingly violate' Senate rules and release Brett Kavanaugh email

Sen. Cory Booker said he is prepared to “knowingly violate” Senate rules and release an email from Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Booker, D-N.J., said during Thursday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that it is “civil disobedience” that the email from when he served as a lawyer for former President George W. Bush is not available for the public.

The email with the subject line “racial profiling,” Booker said, shows that Kavanaugh was sympathetic to racial profiling by police.

“I knowingly violated the rules that were put forth,” Booker said of his handling of committee confidential information.

“If Sen. Cornyn believes I violated Senate rules, I openly invite and accept the consequences of my team releasing that email right now,” he added — which he said includes expulsion from the Senate. “The emails being withheld from the public have nothing to do with national security."

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, chastised Booker for announcing the release of the document: “Running for president is no excuse for violating the rules of the Senate.”

Booker spokesman Jeff Giertz told the Washington Examiner that the records are not classified.

Grassley has designated roughly 141,000 pages of documents from Kavanaugh’s record as “committee confidential” which means senators can see them, but they can’t be made public and used by lawmakers during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing.

In a Wednesday statement, three progressive groups ― Demand Justice, MoveOn and NARAL Pro-Choice America ― urged Democrats to go around Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and release more records related to Kavanaugh.

“Chairman Grassley must not shield Judge Kavanaugh from evidence that Kavanaugh perjured himself in previous confirmation hearings, or any other documents or evidence relevant to his ability to serve on the highest court for a lifetime appointment,” reads the joint statement. “[Democrats] know that nothing in the Senate Standing Rules or Judiciary Committee Rules grants Grassley sole authority to designate documents ‘Committee Confidential’ or prohibit their public release.”

RACIAL PROFILING IS NOT A CRIME

PROFILING IS A NECESSARY STEP IN LAW ENFORCEMENT.

When you want to find a terrorist before they blow up a plane, you have a higher probability of success if you frisk the military-aged Arab guy, rather then the white grandmother.

What can I possibly say that will not get my comment removed by the Mod? May a Pox be upon him and his wife and complete lineage. Close enough, I guess to what I want to convey. The Anti-Trumpers are literally just dying to find any reason to vote against this Candidate. And he should be charged with SOMETHING. Grassley will once again show he’s a RINO.

BS - as if Sotomayer didn’t perjure herself.

I think racial profiling is proper in the right context. It’s called using logic and reason to solve a crime.

I would suggest the only means of ‘punishing’ Team-Booker...is to dismiss their security clearances (even for secret material) for a period of one year.

There are Senate procedures for how to handle this rule breaker. Let’s see if GOPe Turtle McConnell has the stomach for a fight.

Who isn’t.

When a carload of white boys are driving through a black neighborhood, the cops see them as probably there to do a drug buy.

Racial profiling is critical to good police work. Duh.

The Bernie Sanders effect on the Democrat party. Be the most left wing and outrageous and you are assured of the Democrat Presidential nomination. The question is, can Kamala top him?

Sen. Cory Booker said he is prepared to “knowingly violate” Senate rules and release an email from Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Again, why shouldn't Booker do this? There will be absolutely no consequences from the GOP -- none. So why not? Democrats know that Republicans will never hold them accountable for anything so they can do whatever without impunity.

Regarding the racial profiling angle, someone ought to simply post the national crime statistics by race. The numbers are staggering, and sadly, completely justify profiling.

Vote, help people get to vote and keep your powder dry, folks.

These people are as evil as any people in history. They’re still in their sheep’s clothing. The real wolves will come out if/when they win.

The good news in all this insane rhetoric and threatening atmosphere is that should Kavanaugh be confirmed, I find it hard to imagine he would move his thinking more towards those insane grandstanders that are trying to destroy his life and career. They may be helping to ensure he doesn’t become another left leaning swing vote.

I don't know about that, but I can spot trouble a mile away - and it has ab-d@mn-solutely nothing to do with color.

and EVERYBODY DOES IT

That’s why you don’t see many people taking leisurely strolls in ghetto hoods and parks

Or riding mass transit

Don’t like “profiling”? Then START BITCHING ABOUT the CRIME that leads to it

Of course! If a green man robs a bank, the cops don't stop white people. Simple policing.
