The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.
President Trump is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader.
Its not just that the special counsel looms large. Or that the country is bitterly divided over Mr. Trumps leadership. Or even that his party might well lose the House to an opposition hellbent on his downfall.
The dilemma which he does not fully grasp is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations. I would know. I am one of them.
To be clear, ours is not the popular resistance of the left. We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous.
But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic.
That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trumps more misguided impulses until he is out of office.

every week The Slimes stoops to a new low ... an entire editorial based on an “anonymous source” ... really?
That’s true; however, this could have been done sub rosa...IF it was done at all and not just more stupid propaganda.
The over-the-top, posthumous McCain knob-polishing really makes the author look like a Deep State axe-grinder rather than a legitimately concerned person who sees real danger.
And all because of a bunch of seditionist mental juveniles who could not grasp that the American people rejected their candidate and their ideals, and are now trying to execute a coup with military involvement if they can sucker people into it.
The protestations of these wankers, of which the NYT is a prime example, bring us as close to a second civil war as we have come since the first, and all this because they couldn't accept that they were in the minority by Constitutional measures.
We are a Republic and not a Democracy, something years of education and years of practical living have not taught them as of yet. The differences are important, and yet despite reciting the Pledge of Allegiance or at least hearing it thousands of times, these people still don't grasp the significance of, "We pledge Allegiance to the REPUBLIC of the United States of America...".
And yet they want us to believe they know how to run a nation they don't have even the fundamentals to grasp.
NYT, you are pushing your luck. Sedition is still on the books, and one day we may actually have an attorney general again, who is not on life support.
HORSEFEATHERS!
Fake Polls / Partisan Media Shills / DNC Incitements to Riot ping.
Found out quotes in Woodward book were from McMaster and dina Powell and others, this piece of b.s is probably McMaster and his cronies.
I’m expecting somebody from Reddit to figure out who the squealer is within 48 hours.
oh... good guess.
In Trump’s defense on Sessions, I humbly assert we ALL thought Sessions would make a great AG. He came across as a fighting conservative. He’s a huge let down but surprisingly so.
The New York Times is attempting to cause an actual mental breakdown in the leader of our country.
There needs to be arrests made.
Nothing in our world is hidden today. Trump should do nothing before a complete review by trusted agents. If it is true, which I doubt, the party needs to be held accountable. I agree with the comments that this is a gas lighting attempt by the NYT.
DJT should- Strip clearances from retired workers, relocate federal offices throughout the country and declassify Weiner’s laptop.
Rosenstein doesn’t work in the White House, this person does.
Deep state moles. I suspect that there are a few others.
Correcton:
“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”, should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute.”
An anonymous source in the New York Slimes?
PEGGED MY BULLSHIT METER!
Find all of these traitors, line them up, feed into industrial strength wood chipper.
As for a "senior official" that is for the sake of drama. Anyone who would write such drivel has to have a high opinion of their GS-5 self.
