Twenty-two people were arrested Tuesday morning after they protested Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing, U.S. Capitol Police said.
Protesters could be heard urging senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee to vote against Kavanaugh's confirmation and to adjourn Tuesday’s hearing.
“Senators, we demand you vote no,” one protester yelled.
Another urged senators to "be a hero and cancel this year."
"This should be an impeachment proceeding and not a confirmation hearing," another said.
The women’s rights group UltraViolet confirmed that its executive director and co-founder, Shaunna Thomas, was among those arrested on Tuesday.
The group argues that Kavanaugh would be the deciding vote to gut Roe v. Wade and criminalize abortion if confirmed.
“Senators, on behalf of the millions of women across the country whose rights will be stripped by a Kavanaugh court, I demand you reject this nomination,” Thomas said during the hearing.
The protesters were charged with disorderly conduct, according to a Capitol Police spokeswoman, who said that an update would be provided at the end of the day.
Democrats on the Senate panel also attempted to have Tuesday’s hearing adjourned over documents related to Kavanaugh that they say they haven’t had sufficient time to review.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) ultimately denied the move to adjourn.
"Senators have had more than enough time ... to adequately assess Judge Kavanaugh's qualifications," he said.
They were not protesters...They were disrupters!

I read earlier it’s on a first in line basis, not sure if that’s correct though.
We are moving from a consensus government to mob rule. These people are “community organizers.” Community organizer is a privatized version of a communist apparatchik.
Community organizers, similar to union thugs, can’t be tolerated as part of our governing processes. They will disrupt them so the government as we know it can’t function. Both community organizers and union thugs are there to get their way regardless of what is best for the people.
I can’t wait to see how Ocasio-Cortez conducts herself on the floor. The House will not tolerate constant interruptions.

Hopefully Sessions won’t prosecute and enforce the law, it would taint his perfect pro-Left record.

I would think preventing a constitutionally protected function of our government would be considered anarchy, notjust disruption.

I still have hope that Joe Crowley will run as an independent in November against her. She’s managed to wear out her welcome very quickly, and she only won because 90% of the RATS in the district stayed home!
But if she does get seated, she’s going to find out what discipline is, unless the RATS take over.
