Judge Brett Kavanaughs confirmation hearing quickly devolved into a farce Tuesday morning with screeching protesters and Democrats demanding the committee be shut down immediately.
The rough beginning underscored the stakes this week for the Judiciary Committee, which was trying to begin four days of hearings on Judge Kavanaughs record but ran into trouble as soon as the gavel was rapped to open proceedings.
We cannot possibly move forward, demanded Sen. Kamala Harris, California Democrat.
I move to adjourn! added Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Democrat.
Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley shot him down, saying they werent even in executive session so they couldnt vote to adjourn.
He also threatened to keep the committee in session through the weekend to finish the confirmation hearing if Democrats continue their interruptions and demands.
If people got something to say, this chairman is going to let them say it. But it gets pretty boring to hear the same thing every time, Mr. Grassley said.

Throw the rabble rousers out. Face first on the concrete.
They’re putting on a show for their mindless base, nothing more.
Back in the day, when I attended Senate hearings as a spectator, hecklers were escorted out - some forcibly!
Have any of the hecklers been kicked out of the hearing?
Theyre putting on a show for their mindless base, nothing more.
They are the equivalent of Republicans going all in and hellbent on reversing Roe. It would be their death.
Same with what the democrats are doing.
Let the Dems adjourn, then let the hearings continue.
The cameras aren’t showing the hecklers, I wondered the same thing.
That works for me.

Grassley should tell him...”you are welcome to leave”
1) Democrats start off and are as disruptive as possible.
2) Democrats express frustration with the disruption and say We cannot possibly move forward,
3) Democrat propose what is (to them) the only reasonable solution: I move to adjourn!
4) Republicans act like adults and do the job they were elected to do.
Wait a minute.
Could it be that the Democrats weren’t sincere in their recent praises of bi-partinsanship?
That their speeches at McCain’s funeral were cynical posturing?
Yes, except their mindless base still includes 95% of the MSM, so as long as the MSM helps to produce the show.... they will continue to promote the drama. JMHO
Oh noes. :^)
Support Free Republic, Folks!
I think the more the dems in charge speak like idiots and the more their voters listen, the more their voters will walk away. As witnessed by the top reply at the source:
“My God! I was a Democratic voter...until witnessing todays abomination of a hearing. I cannot and will not continue to support such anti-American behavior. These Democratic Senators should be ashamed of themselves!”

We are witnessing a GREAT AWAKENING
Damn DemoRats want to tell everyone how to live and what to say.....the PEOPLE of the USA don’t matter “spit” to Rats.
Thank you demoncrats for missing us off even more and increasing turnout in November.
I can’t abide the incivility, so I will not watch the hearings.
My guess is that the Republicans are counting on Real Americans having an understanding of what is going, and rejecting Democrats because of their boorish and uncivil behavior.
This charade will, hopefully, result in a backlash against the Democrats and further strengthen the Republicans in the November election.
