John Kerry On John Edwards: Vice Presidential Qualities ‘Didn’t Measure Up’ 7:08 AM 09/03/2018 Jason Hopkins | Energy Investigator

Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry suggested in a Sunday CBS News interview that he regrets choosing John Edwards as his vice presidential running mate during the 2004 presidential elections.

In an interview on “Face The Nation,” former secretary of state John Kerry answered in the affirmative when asked if he regretted picking then-North Carolina Democratic Sen. John Edwards as his running mate.

“I write in the book about the qualities that you are looking for when you choose a vice president and I think when you articulate those qualities and then you measure what took place against the qualities that I very much lay out there that you’re looking for, it — it didn’t measure up. It wasn’t what we had hoped for,” he told host Margaret Brennan. “So there was some disappointment in that.”

The “book” Kerry referred to is his soon-to-be released memoir: “Every Day is Extra.” The upcoming autobiography details Kerry’s life as a soldier, Vietnam War protester and subsequent political career. The subject of his life was discussed at length during his exchange with Brennan. The timing of his memoir stokes further speculation that the longtime Massachusetts senator is mulling another presidential bid — something he did not deny.

“I’m really not thinking about it,” he said when asked point-blank if will run in 2020. “Talking about 2020 right now is a total distraction and waste of time. What we need to do is focus on 2018.”

Kerry — who is living on Martha’s Vineyard for the time being — made a number of other notable comments during the interview.

Not one of these people could spell honor or dignity. They toss each other under the bus at the first opportunity...

As Harry Truman said, if you want a friend in this town (Washington, D.C.), get a dog.

Kerry is just trying to out-do McCain on badmouthing V.P. picks.

No, don’t skip it. John Kerry NEVER MEASURED AT ALL!

We (collectively) Swifties exposed that in the book “Unfit for Command”.

At least John Edwards didn’t sell out his combat crews, the Navy, his country and his honor.

John Kerry replies: “Yes I did”!

Doubt you’ll hear Bush say the same about Cheney.

#25. Re your question “Did you know that John Kerry served in Vietnam”?

To which I ask, “North Vietnam”? Yes, I did.

Who said Kerry measured up?

Probably already posted ten times, but it was an obvious retort.

This is all such BS, very bad form. McCain asked Palin to be his veep candidate, Kerry asked Edwards. I like Palin and dislike Edwards, but the blame for not winning goes to McCain and Kerry (who is by far the worst of the four, btw), not to their seconds. This complaining is petty and very unbecoming to grown men.

Al Sore most likely had buyer’s remorse about selecting Loserman as his veep too. I think Sore refused to endorse Loserman in future campaigns.

Loserman was a strong choice for Gore, almost helped him carry FL by increasing Jewish turnout in S FL.

Edwards probably made little difference either way, NC was one of only 3 states where Bush’s share of the vote (not % margin which declined in many States thanks to no Nader) declined from 2000, it declined by .01 and Kerry’s increased by .38.

Palin helped in some ways and hurt in others but in no way is she responsible for McCain losing. If he had chosen Loserman (or any pro-choicer let alone a DEMOCRAT) I’m told the convention would have rejected it, which would have been an* historic embarrassment for McCain. Loserman’s successful nomination would have lead to a large number of turd party votes and probably gained McPain relatively few in return. I presume he was made aware that convention would not be keen on a pro partial birth abortion democrat and so dropped his ridiculous idea.

McCain learned nothing from Andrew Johnson I suppose. Lincoln should have kept Hamlin.

*Auh, what are your thoughts on “a historic” vs. “an historic”?

I’ve always thought that “a historic” sounds correct but never used it, having only seen “an historic” in publications.
I’m very conscious of exactly what I’m writing because I have that internal conflict. It will haunt me through life, I fear.

Since McQueeg had no intention of running a “winning” campaign against Zero, methinks this stunt of picking a far-left Dem running mate was explicitly designed for a landslide loss.

If one pronounces the H, then it should be “a historic.” If one pronounces the word with a silent H, then it should be “an historic.”

Personally, I say “an historic occasion,” but, then again, I’m quite the snob. : )

BTW, in the U.S. Constitution, the Framers wrote “an uniform rule of naturalization.” Apparently, they pronounced it “OOH-neh-form” back then.

“an uniform rule of naturalization.”

Interesting, I never once noticed that.

I am sad for the people who still support Sessions as I do remember when I was trusting and very naïve. The truth comes as a slap in the face and is unpleasant.
