Disrupt a major hub like O’Hare, and almost every airport in the US is screwed, with a ripple effect into Europe and Asia.
Didn’t affect any flights, only passengers entering and leaving the airport.

I know that airport well and people will just run over protesters and/or get out of their vehicles and beat said protesters to a bloody pulp, then toss the carcasses out of the roadway.
I did such a great post on the road sitdown arrests but it goes for this, too.
The kiddies who watch cartoon versions of history now wee themselves as heroic, courageous, defiant heirs to Thoreau, ML King and Ghandi. Their cause might be to make the after school sports program open longer hours or to add natural foods items to the school cafeteria after banning straws, but they are heroes in their own minds.
I think it was a Ferguson or another right after it protest where the dorky demonstrators on the road held up a vehicle carrying a child who had to get to the hospital for treatment. The police finally got them out of the way for two minutes after a delay.
An interstate highway has to be kept open for emergencies, defense use and the people driving on them.
An airport has to be open so emergency landings, commerce, transportation of people can take place. It is not a mayor’s office in a small town closed down for a school millage protest.

Among other unrealistic things, the protesters want them to turn closed down schools into businesses. What sort of business? Nothing that requires walk-in trade. Certainly nothing but the lightest of manufacturing, as there would be no infrastructure. How would the businesses provide themselves with security. Schools can’t be repurposed unless the purpose is setting up benches to make paper airplanes.
The protesters are, apparently, idiots. This is
“community organizing” at its finest. Make noise and occupy something until somebody does whatever you want them to do.
There are two schools I know of one in Portland and one in Sacramento that have been converted to centers of commerce. The one in portland has public offices and businesses. The one in Sac had a theatre/auditorium and that’s profitable theatre.

How about all the ‘White’ volunteers that gather every so often and ‘pick up trash’ etc in the ‘neighborHOODS’.
Of course volunteer is the key word BUT I wonder what the reaction would be if people see ‘Black volunteers’ cleaning up White neighborhoods....
