The sugary praise, often from former critics, does his memory no favors. The past week has featured so much extravagant praise of John McCain that Jill Abramson, the former editor of the New York Times, had to admit McCain would cringe over some of the glowing tributes pouring in.
Take this example from The New Yorker:
In death, McCain had finally become one with the country that was the object of his deepest faith, and any praise lavished on him, during the funeral proceedings or at any point afterward, would redound to the greater glory of America.
Yes, of course, John McCain was an American hero. But his sudden elevation to superhero status demonstrates one reason so many Americans view the media and the political establishment with skepticism. Many must have wondered whether they were getting the real McCain story or being fed a thinly veiled political message. As Joe Concha of The Hill newspaper asked,
If the senator had gotten along with Trump, perhaps voted for the skinny repeal of Obamacare that he so famously shot down with one vote change at the 11th hour, hadnt publicly called Trump disgraceful, would we see this level of reverence?

Did McCain “respect” his first wife?
Good Riddance! When McCain and Feingold got together on campaign finance reform, I knew it was all over.
During Operation Dessert Shield/Storm I ran eight Family Assistance Centers in the Midwest to assist families of NG and other Reserve troops who had NEVER been mobilized before.
I had to go to the Capitol in, ‘The People’s Republik of Madistain’ to ask Feingold for a lousy $30K to keep my operations open through the end of that fiscal year, and he acted so SNOTTY to me...while I was in uniform, of course! He acted as if HE would be personally writing the check to assist Military Families.
When those two teamed up, I knew it was all over.
Yes, I disliked McCain before for all of his sins that never seemed to see the light of day, but McCain-Feingold was the end of it for me. All it DID was allow bundlers to throw together HUGE sums of cash for candidates.
And if you think there were no kick-backs from that legislation, you have NOT been paying attention.
Again, Good Riddance!
Did McCain ever tell the truth to his voters:

LOL > AS IF!
I'd be shocked if McCain didn't write draft outlines for some of them.
Whoa...
Just a damned minute there Senator.
Lying sack of “S”.
Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
LOL! I spelled ‘Desert’ as ‘Dessert!’ Sorry. Oh, if it had only been that easy! ;)
This is an example of why he continued to get elected (with Soros money).
Someone else posted it on FR first - a good find.
Anyone check McCain’s tomb yet to make sure the body’s still there?
(Oh wait, that’s not until the third day)
No hero
A survivor
But no hero
What did he ever risk for the life of another
( crickets)
The UniParty is not just mourning McCain, they are mourning the death of their “politics of inevitability” where no matter who is elected President, you get open borders, “free trade”, globalism, amnesty, “diversity”, global warming “reduction” ... and all the rest.
The UniParty is still there, and still powerful. But the inevitability of their shared agenda has died. Trump killed it.
President Trump should run that on the senate floor and immediately announce that he will be naming the wall the John S. McCain memorial wall just as McCain wanted.
He only respected people he needed or people who fawned over and groveled to his embellished experiences
He was an angry bitter SOB who always had to hide what he knew he really did and caused
