It will be marginalized, blocked, perverted...you name it. There is way too much centralized power and corruption in D.C. to ever allow peons to dictate the course of this nation.
Sorry folks...if you think a convention of the states is right around the corner, well, you're just whistlen Dixie.
I mean, look at what a broad swath of our population doesn’t even understand the First Amendment.
I have no trust of the intent of this. Zero.
Would much better see Pres. Trump call in the Good Military to take control of DOJ, FBI, All Intelligence Agencies, and any other Fed Agencies to clean house and throw all Enemies of the State in Gitmo for Military Tribunals. Followed by CMJ requirements.
CMJ = Code of Military Justice
Getting the machinery to change the Constitution rolling would be the equivalent of handing The Left a nuclear bomb.
Article V ping.
I think there are probably enough good guys in the DOJ, FBI throughout government. What’s necessary is to identify them and put them in positions of power. It’s only Trump’s second year, but it continues to be a major problem. Maybe he needs a housecleaner, Newt Gingrich could do it, perhaps with Giuliani providing legal advice.
Its important to note that a COS is not a Constitutional Convention. It SHOULD have a limited scope. That said l dont think it will happen. My fear is it would somehow spin out of control.
I have no confidence that modern Americans are smart enough to not ‘monkey it up’...
There is SO much money involved in our politics I don’t trust anyone with meddling with our Constitution...
I don’t like it because the whole idea suggests that there is something ‘wrong’ with our constitution, instead of with the men and women making up government and our vigilance and oversight of them.
From Horowitz: "The Convention of the States is made for the Trump era. It provides an opportunity to follow the example of our presidents boldness, to leverage our power in behalf of the principles we hold dear. It is an opportunity make America free again. To make America prosperous and strong again. It is an opportunity to make America great again. Dont miss it."
Unless we reassert our sovereignty, and regularly look over the shoulder of the Deep State and expose and reverse its tyranny, the American experiment is over. The cowards at FR who demand guaranteed results from a COS will be first to cry when the Deep State Oligarchy takes power down the road and never lets go. By then it will be too late and the US will join other countries in the dumpster of failed republics.
I disagree!
The “con con” IS a con!
Too much opportunity for LIEberal mischief - all we really need to do is enforce the Constitution we have now!
Under the existing Constitution, team Obama and Hillary attempted and almost succeeded in overturning Article II.
Under the existing Constitution, any one of over 600 district court judges at their whim can veto the President’s executive orders.
Soros and Brock promise to shut down all opposition before 2020. The trend in on their side.
Pull your head out of the sand and realize there is nothing to lose and everything to gain by reasserting the sovereignty of We the People.
Pray, do tell Freeperdom how to “enforce the Constitution we have.”
If you got that garbage from Publius Huldah or the JBS, I’ve refuted them both in detail and will be happy to provide the links.
I have to second this. It would open the door, as others on this thread have noted, to too much ignorant error on the part of people who don’t really understand the Founding and the Constitution in the first place. And that’s all aside from the deliberate tomfoolery that would ensue from those who want subvert it and would use this opportunity.
Now is not the time, regardless of Trump.
“Theres nothing wrong with the original Constitution other than that we dont follow it.”
True. I’m very interested in your opinion in how we command rogue judges and traitorous politicians to follow constitutional law as it currently stands.
“Just enforce our original Constitution and get rid of the 17th Ammendment....”
How do we “enforce” the Constitution? The Constitution hasn’t been properly enforced in 60 years.
Honoring our oaths, and basic duty as citizens, and ridding the various legislatures and judiciary of oath breaking filth would be a good start.
