North Korea warned the US in a recent letter that talks are "again at stake and may fall apart," adding that it may resume "nuclear and missile activities" if its demands are not met.
President Donald Trump unexpectedly canceled what was expected to be Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's fourth trip to Pyongyang last Friday due to insufficient progress on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. The decision was preceded by a "belligerent" letter that criticized his administration for failing "to meet (North Korean) expectations in terms of taking a step forward to sign a peace treaty," CNN reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The receipt of the letter, which was sent by the former head of North Korea's spy agency, Kim Yong Chol, occurred just hours after Pompeo's trip was first announced last week, The Washington Post reported Monday. "The exact contents of the message are unclear, but it was sufficiently belligerent that Trump and Pompeo decided to call off Pompeo’s journey," The Post's Josh Rogin reported.
Pompeo's last trip to North Korea ended with a message from the foreign ministry characterizing meetings with the US as "regrettable." Those negotiations came amid troubling reports from multiple outlets indicating that North Korea had yet to suspend its weapons programs in keeping with its commitment to denuclearize.

This seems to be how Koreans negotiate. If anyone has a chance of getting them to give up nuclear weapons, it’s Trump. If not, I guess we can destroy them with a couple of SLBMs.

Naaah, I say employ Antifa tactics. Low altitude flyover of Pyongyang of as many F35’s we can muster at max speed. Break the windows. Their glaziers and underwear laundry services will be happy for the additional work but the power structure will be shaken. Bomb them with packets of skittles with this message imprinted in Korean, “The long noses say hi. Want to be our friends?”
As a Christian, I believe “hope” is the only strategy. But we have to “hope” in the way God wants us to, not our idea of hope.

Just thinking of that sends shivers up my spine.
I have been at many Air Force days at bases in the US, usually 4th of July, and they would have a flyover of different kinds. F-4s at full afterburner at low altitude.

I saw an F-4 once nose up just above the treetops rocking back and forth as it came toward us. It looked like it was walking on the tree tops. Impressive demonstration!
You, for one, never fell for the very short-lived and surreal love affair with North Korea and Kim Jong Un as witnessed a bit on FR, Fox and Friends and other places. Those that tried to say this whole exercise was/is going nowhere were called all kinds of names in the meantime, and good Freepers like TigerLikesRooster, etc left. It was only a matter of time that it began to unravel and that it would not be OK again to openly call Pyongyang, liars and double dealing cheats they are and always were.
Better yet; round up all the Antifa thugs here in the USA then drop them into NK and watch how the N. Koreans laugh themselves into a comedy coma. Them drop the gas bombs to knock them all out for 72 hours and move them to some remote island without weapons or any technology. The Antifa thugs can be moved with them. Two birds; one stone.
Used to live just off of the Flight Path decades ago at Bergstrom AFB (now the Austin Bergstrom Intergalactic Airport) and it was F-4’s all day going in and out for Recon Training Flights. BAFB was the only Training Wing for F-4 Recon.

I notice that people who decry any negative news about Kim Jong Un also think anything negative about Russia or Syria's Assad (a major NK ally) is also fake news. *rolleyes* And what's ironic is that alongside China, Russia is DPRK's biggest enabler and historically supercedes China in that regard.

I believe this is the Chinese telling Kim what to say and do...in retaliation for Trump’s hardnose Chinese tariffs negotiations. Watch and see how quickly Kim becomes friendly again if Trump softens his stanch.
Nobody thought bringing the NORKs into the modern world would be easy, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be attempted - especially when we have a President who isn't afraid to wield that "big stick"....the NORKs demand Trump change his mind about easing restrictions too early and the result will be harsher restrictions - Y'all act as if it's over when the real negotiations are really just beginning....
