Dr. Serkan Gölge, a NASA scientist who was sentenced to seven years, six months in prison in February due to his alleged links to the Gülen movement, has said he has been unlawfully kept behind bars for two years, which he says shows he is being held hostage by the Turkish government, the t24 news website reported on Tuesday.
A dual citizen of the US and Turkey, Gölge, 38, was detained as part of an investigation into the Gülen movement, which the government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt on July 15, 2016, on July 23, 2016. He was arrested after being kept in police custody for 14 days.
In February a Turkish court in Hatay province handed down a prison sentence of seven years, six months on charges of membership in a terrorist organization.

Gölge was still employed by NASA during his trial but was fired after his conviction in Turkey.
There is no longer a rule of law in Turkey. There is no Adalet (Justice) in Turkey. There are only edicts of Erdogan the Islamist Dictator of Turkey.
Do our Mueller Special Council investigations sound like justice in Turkey?
It’s time for the State Department to issue a travel advisory for Turkey.
If it hasn’t already been done, it is also time to develop alternatives to Incirlik air base. Once done, move US personnel out of Turkey. I think Turkey is on the verge of civil war.
So many questions, so few answers.
The real coup maker is Erdogan. He is part of the Muslim Brotherhood sleeper cell, a virtually forbidden org in secular Turkey.
agree:
Dual citizenship just gets the entire USA sucked into fights that aren’t ours.
It’s NOT just Turkey (which I know dislike, admittedly):
It’s VERY many other countries.
They get their papers, then go back to The Old Country and feel they have leverage carte blanche to start causing problems.
He'll have a ready answer next time he flies with Captain Oveur.
I can assure you, I will never go to Turkey.
With what I have posted about Erdogan the Islamist, I would be put in jail too.
No danger of me traveling there, besides, there is nothing there I want to see.
True that.
Turkish national broadcaster stops showing Westerns
Current state of Turkish affairs?
We will witness continued deterioration of Turkey. Nothing but lies comes from their press. State approved Propaganda.
Reports from within Turkey say: all we have left at Incirlik are transport planes, refueling planes and scout plane. The rest have been moved to other bases.
If Turkey has a civil war, they must consider the number of ISIS, al-Qaeda and other Jihadi’s there. The outcome of that will be serious for civilians.
Which is fine. The problem is that we're in a weird spot, being in NATO with them. Hypothetically, if the Kurds declared war against Turkey, would we be stuck defending Turkey against the Kurds?
Point is, we should've never gotten involved in regime change in Syria, Saudi Arabia should not be our friend, and (Joe Biden's only good idea), Iraq should've been split into three parts and we should've left long ago.
“Hypothetically, if the Kurds declared war against Turkey, would we be stuck defending Turkey against the Kurds?”
Total nonsense.
Why is it “total nonsense” that by treaty we could be required to defend Turkey against a population we support? What’s total nonsense is the entangling alliances that support our global misadventures.
“Jailed NASA scientist says he is being held hostage by Turkish government”
Jonathan Winters?
“Its time for the State Department to issue a travel advisory for Turkey.”
It wouldn’t deter the cauliflower brained proselytizing evangelists.
“Do our Mueller Special Council investigations sound like justice in Turkey? “
No..Turkey may have a point and Mueller lacks their integrity.
“Did his employment as a NASA scientist look suspiciously like US involvement in the coup to the Turkish gov? “
CIA regularly uses cover assignments for it’s operatives...as if other countries didn’t figure this out 100 years ago.
Both are very bad examples of justice.
Very bad statement of what has happened to the US system of government.
“I can assure you, I will never go to Turkey.”
Neither will I, again.

After I watched Midnight Express about 40 years ago, it killed any desire I ever had to visit Turkey.
