I realize that John McCain was a long-time public servant who spent five years at the "Hanoi Hilton", was tortured, came back, was a longtime senator and two-time presidential candidate. And I realize that the shooting in Jacksonville at the gamer convention is an important story.
But we also lost one of the American cultural icons today when Neil Simon passed at 91. (See below.) Can we not find a minute or two for this major figure in contemporary American culture? Are we THAT wrapped up in politics?

I was mostly talking about the media in general.

Marsha Mason was Neil Simon's wife for a while. The Goodbye Girl is partly based on her.

“Politics is downstream from culture,” as Andrew Breitbart once said. The culture is one of the weapons they’re using to try to kill us.

My favorite Neil Simon was After the Fox with Peter Sellers, Victor Mature and Bret Echlin.
Not well known, but my all-time favorite comedy.

The McCain virtue signaling is just too damn necessary.

Neil Simon, poor guy, just got Fawcetted. You never want to die on the same day as someone more famous. Poor Farrah passed on the day Michael Jackson did.

I saw an article on Simon's death....don't mistake a lack of equal coverage for one of your 'pet likes" for anything it isn't....he gave us great entertainment but dodn't have a lot to do with whether or not we maintain our FReedom - politics is where that battle is being fought.
I enjoyed being entertained by Simon....
