Not wishing to say something bad about the dead, I'll leave the inaccuracies in this piece alone.

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

I am refraining from public comment.

I once liked my senator, and there's lots of good about him and his history, but DC got to him, I suppose.

Media loved him (because he was willing to dump on fellow Republicans)... until he became candidate for Prez., which highlights his blindness.

Nets are showing his famous debate in which he defended Obama as a good and righteous man. At that point, I knew he was blinded.

His Keating affair guilt changed him. He felt he had to make amends for the corruption to which he partook.

Its over and that’s the way it is.

Anger and rage isn’t going to be the right response.

Senator McCain served in the military and then moved into a political career where I think the problems began, the trouble began.

Of course, he picked Sarah Palin for VP in 2008. I think he brought her to our attention and gave her some opportunities during the campaign and afterwards in the media since McCain has media connections through his chairing of the committee overseeing media regulation in the Senate.

I’m sorry to hear of his passing. I believe there are things bigger than politics, and I wished that he would make a full recovery not only for his sake but for the sake of his family who loved him very much. That wasn’t meant to be, and I think we can all agree that cancer is a monster that I hope is slayed. It takes too many people and animals as well. May he RIP.

I’d add to those commenting remember how we would react if someone we really were big fans of here on FR died and the liberals left nasty comments. We must be bigger than that. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t write you have nothing nice to say, just say nothing.

A time for reflection for us all.....

A Common Destiny for All

Ecclesiastes 9 New International Version

9 So I reflected on all this and concluded that the righteous and the wise and what they do are in God’s hands, but no one knows whether love or hate awaits them. 2 All share a common destiny—the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad,[a] the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not.

As it is with the good,
so with the sinful;
as it is with those who take oaths,
so with those who are afraid to take them.

3 This is the evil in everything that happens under the sun: The same destiny overtakes all. The hearts of people, moreover, are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they join the dead. 4 Anyone who is among the living has hope[b]—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!

5
For the living know that they will die,
but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward,
and even their name is forgotten.
6
Their love, their hate
and their jealousy have long since vanished;
never again will they have a part
in anything that happens under the sun.

7 Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do. 8 Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. 9 Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

11 I have seen something else under the sun:

The race is not to the swift
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all.

12 Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come:

As fish are caught in a cruel net,
or birds are taken in a snare,
so people are trapped by evil times
that fall unexpectedly upon them

I considered posting a hoax vanity about McCain kicking the bucket today, but thought better of it.

Wish I’d done it now.

There was a time in this country when it was considered bad manners to speak ill of the dead, especially right after their passing. We can bash him and his legacy tomorrow. Today, I'm just going to pray he made his peace with God,

We commend you, Senator John McCain to almighty God, and entrust you to your Creator. May you rest in the arms of the Lord who formed you from the dust of the earth. May holy Mary, the angels and all the saints welcome you now that you have gone forth from this life. May Christ who was crucified for you, bring you freedom and peace. May Christ who died for you admit you into his garden of paradise. May Christ, the true Shepherd, embrace you as one of his flock. May he forgive all your sins, and set you among those he has chosen. May you see your Redeemer face to face, and enjoy the vision of God, forever. Amen.

+ Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. +

I suggest we all send our thoughts and feelings to the Lord and not satisfy our earthly desires, regardless of how right they may seem here, and always.
