Last month, I joined about 15,000 other cyclists in a weeklong bike ride across Iowa. We rode past cornfields and through small towns, which welcomed us with pork barbecue, slices of pie and all the trappings of a rolling state fair.
Every so often, alongside the lemonade stands or in people’s yards, I spotted posters. They featured the smiling face of a young woman named Mollie Tibbetts. She was missing, the posters said. Please call with information.
Tibbetts, a 20-year-old University of Iowa student, went out for a run on July 18 in her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa, and never returned. A massive search was on. Her family held out hope she’d been kidnapped and would be found alive.

Imagine how her death would have been reported had she been a militant lesbian, been active in the anti gun or abortion movement or have been other than white. Most troubling for the left is that Mollie was murdered and likely sexually assaulted by an illegal alien and her death could have been prevented by simply enforcing our immigration laws.
But I could not eat any of it. I kept vomiting uncontrollably at the sights I saw. Some of those sights were churches with people going to them, people working hard at their jobs - people without a J.D. or MBA after their names, boys going into the boys bathroom and girls using the girls bathroom - exclusively, neighbors talking to one another. I even rode by a (urrrrrrp!) rifle range where older deplorables were teaching their young fascists to shoot automatic pistols and machine rifles. I was miserable the entire time, but now I know what the deepest pits of Hell look like. At the end of this god awful nightmare I returned happily to my upper west side condo and civilization!

Pffffft. That was SO long ago.
If one looks at the birthrate in the US we do need immigration. We need the right people. The world is full of people that are the right people. We need people with skills and education that want to assimilate in our American culture. It is that damn simple. Open our borders to the people we need and exclude those that can harm us.

I worked in the VA for years. We had many Indian doctors that were of great value. Oddly, they preserved their culture but at the same time joined the American culture. After two generations their kids and grand kids were just plain Americans. Assimilation works.
