Imagine theres no heaven
Its easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine theres no countries
It isnt hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace
You may say Im a dreamer
But Im not the only one
I hope some day youll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world You may say Im a dreamer
But Im not the only one
I hope someday youll join us
And the world will be as one
How did we go so quickly from southern Israel being burnt to Palestinian flags in Tel Aviv? From the red alerts in the south to the rainbow of the LGBT surrogacy protests in central Israel?
They are all connected. The key word for understanding all of this madness is identity. We are experiencing a war against all identity and all essence. It is a world war, but here in Israel it is the most extreme.
We are in a real war in which hundreds of civilians and soldiers have already been killed. One side is well-organized and well-funded. The other side is confused and doesnt even understand why it is being attacked.
We left Gaza as part of the Oslo Accords, which, according to its architect (Ron Pundak) were designed to erase Israels Jewish identity. It was the tip of the iceberg of a broader war a war against any type of national identity. Shimon Peres wrote about it explicitly in his book, The New Middle East (p. 73 in the Hebrew edition).
This explains how we have sacrificed 2,000 victims on the altar of peace and have reached a mentality in which it is no longer us vs. them. Instead, there are those in uniform and those who are not in uniform from both sides. The uniformed peoples job is to die for those not in uniform no matter what side the civilians are on (as per Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan).
Hundreds of soldiers have already been killed for the enemy. The last one to date is the Givati officer who was killed by a snipers bullet. Why? Because for them, any identity at all is a battleground. That explains the all-out battle against the Jewish State Law, which recognizes that Israel has a national identity.
But the war is not only against national identity. There really is no equality problem in Israel. If anybody here is discriminated against, it is the normative Jews. If you want to be accepted to med school in Israel or to receive land to build a home, you would be well-advised to convert to Islam. And if you want your voice to be heard, you would be well-advised to be a homosexual or a radical feminist. If you are just a regular Israeli, you are the last in the pecking order for attention and benefits.
So the next time you hear about a protest in Tel Aviv, or a march in Jerusalem to demand equality, please remember that it is really not about equality, at all. It is a war against identity all identity.
A war against national identity (Palestinians). A war against family identity (radical feminism). A war against gender identity (LGBT). A war against human identity (eating meat is murder).
This is how the IDF has turned into an army bereft of identity, which has no enemy and thus can never defeat him, a la John Lennons song, Imagine. It is an army that is incapable of dealing with kites, that leaves southern Israel to burn, its citizens in bomb shelters, sacrifices the lives of its soldiers for this enlightened paganism and apologizes for accidentally killing two enemy snipers (not that it even has an enemy).
Yes, it is hard to wrap your head around the enormity of this monster. So just remember one thing: It is not about equality. Not about equality for the Palestinians. Not about equality for the Arabs. Not about equality for the Druze. Not about equality for women. Not about equality for the homosexuals. Even if some of the claims they make are justified, it is not about equality at all. It is a war against one thing: A war against identity.
What does the song have to do with the article?
Research... Jesus would have dined with Lennon precisely because he was a sinner. And Lennon would have heard the message and submitted precisely because he was a truth-seeker. Of all of the Beatles (ignoring their impact is perilous) he was the one who always refused to submit to political correctness. Wrong often, but honest always. I’d say that’s betted than what we have today in popular culture.
It is a very good article. Thanks for posting. The premise totally refutes the erroneous sentiment of the line “Nothing to kill or die for”. People will always find something to kill or die for, even in a ‘one world government’ situation. They will always find something to ‘identify’ themselves as that pits them against those they identify as rivals or enemies. People fight because of sports teams. They fight to humiliate one another, or to try to show superiority of some crazy sort.
Ironically, the one thing that gives hope and promise in the world, and that can lead people to not act on their worst impulsivity, is spirituality and believing that there is a right way and a wrong way to be in the world. That’s contrary to the moral relativism that the liberals who embrace this song believe in.
I had prayed for all of them for years. Most of their music has always given me joy.
I agree that Imagine would be one song but the other imo would be the Police's Message In a Bottle, especially the ending where he keeps repeating "sending out and sos" ad infinitum!
Good lord....talk about hate just read the replies here..lordy
I think I enjoyed my youth more than most freepers
Course I was a Stones guy
And I was 4-6 years too young for Indochina
Lennon was certainly quite flawed and naive and self obsessed like most creative folks are.....they are emotional by nature
However I liked a lot of his music.....He was definitely the least likable of the bunch but Paul was actually the stingiest if you listen to his Wings band mates
Beatles and Stones were the soundtrack of my life from second grade till middle school and Stones all the way into early adulthood and I still listen to them 3-4 times a week
I dont listen to music because I agree with every utterance of the performer
Some are so egregious I turn them off like Springsteen and Dixie C words
But the Beatles have well produced ....very well actually....music thst I think holds up very nicely
Here Comes the Sun...I honestly turned thst in Napster when I got in the tub this morning and cracked the shades....proper
And Lennons plastic ono band which was just white album part deaux I like too
But yall feel free to kick a murdered dead man and his homely widder
Lennon as a homo I doubt that....
Naive and arrogant for sure
That’s what thousands of acid trips and Yoko Ono does to the mind. It wasn’t until the late 70s when his head started clearing up.
Ive always thought she was in on the hit. Right next to him and not a scratch.
The Beatles are enjoying a huge renaissance these days. Lots of young people are into them. The (over-rated) song Imagine is recognized by many all over the world. Some things are classic and stand the test of time.
I agree about the melody and arrangement of that song. They are the hooks that made the song the monster hit it became. The lyrics are juvenile and sappy however, and describe a world that can never exist.
Where did lennon ever reveal that he had become a Christian? Never saw anything to that effect anywhere. Please enlighten.
In between bong hits, shootin’ smack, and beating ono.....
“Imagine” by John Lennon, is a musical masterpiece. But also a song of absolute existential despair! The atheist hymn. It offers no HOPE (hence “Imagine”)! So we counter with a song dedicated to the soon despairing Godless existentialists out there. You know who you are!
That's been my thought as well. John had changed, and I think Yoko was scared he was going to leave her, she had to protect her investment.
The least damning thing I could say about it, is it is incredibly naïve.
Their stuff doesn't seem to have worn very well with time. Maybe that is why they bought the rights to all Elvis's stuff.
That tune is so 1848 to me. The first time I heard it--and I didn't know who sang it until several months later--I understood that it this book set to music.
Imagine all the people
Living without hope
Some folks say you're a dreamer
I know I'm not the only one
Too bad you can't join us
'Cause where you are now
Can't be that fun.
