Rep. Duncan Hunter and his wife indicted in use of campaign funds for personal expenses

Rep. Duncan Hunter and his wife, Margaret, were indicted Tuesday on charges related to the misuse of $250,000 worth of campaign funds for personal expenses and the filing of false campaign finance records.

The charges of wire fraud, falsifying records, campaign finance violations and conspiracy were the culmination of a Department of Justice investigation that has stretched for more than a year, during which the Republican congressman from California has maintained his innocence.

Republican Party leaders had long worried that with a potential indictment looming, Hunter's traditionally safe district which makes up much of eastern San Diego County could be at risk of Democratic takeover in November's midterm election.

“t’s not only Levin. Levin today on his radio show had the former chairman of the Federal Election Commission who is in agreement with Levin on this issue of the law. Who to believe an expert witness who was the head of the FEC speaking about this very basic FEC rule, or some NY judge who really doesn’t know?”

I don’t think Mr. Bradley A. Smith is saying what you think he is saying and he, like you and me, isn’t privy to all the facts in this case. He is offering his expert opinion based on the information he has which is about the same information you and I have. The judge in this case most likely has all the info and thus agreed to accept Cohen’s guilty plea.

Being a conservative doesn’t make one immune from greed. This investigation was no secret.

But I’m expected to believe that the two earliest Congressman to endorse Trump, who each sit in districts outside of the range of possible democrat victory without “help” both happen to be guilty of nebulous financial crimes, while Pelosi’s caucus is pure as the driven snow?

I ask again why the hell is a supposedly Republican DOJ investigating GOP Congressman? How many democrats did Obama DOJ go after? Only 1 I can think of, Blago who personally embarrassed him by auctioning off his Senate seat and was caught red-handed. I fail to see the political fallout of the President putting a stop to this being worse than the political fallout from indictments.

I’m not sure if under Cali’s retard electoral system it is possible Hunter can be replaced on the ballot if he withdraws. If not then he must stay in.

The only thing that the judge likely agreed to is that it was part of a plea agreement that was accepted in his court, and not that it was adjudicated on the merits.

You can listen to the former FEC Chairman Smith around the 10 minute mark here:

Levin Radio Show, Aug. 21st

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjd4tbifr5o

Levin lays out the facts to him if it was or was not a campaign violation. Smith agrees it was not and uses examples. Levin cites the law clearly, and as you've been told, that this issue goes back to 2006, which is years before the election campaign. It's not "solely" or exclusively about an expenditure for the presidential campaign. 'It was a personal expenditure.'

Wow.

I met Duncan a few years back and offered to buy him a glass of wine.

He couldn’t take it.

I told I was not a constituent and he still refused.

This smacks of the political charges against Senator Ted Stevens in Alaska. Found innocent after they cost him the election.

Nobody’s too valuable.

Alinsky-ites would have a field day with him. I can just see the narrative from 1998: Culture of Corruption!

alinsky tactics work only if you fall for them and react to them.

They are manipulations.

Do not react and they are useless.

The fix is in on schedule to get Duncan Hunter’s electoral challenger, the Muslim grandson of one of the Munich Massacre mass murderer terrorists, into Congress, one of 90 young Muslims being maneuvered to step by step take over the legislative branch of the U.S.

It certainly seems that this district was considered one the Muslim Congressional candidate wave and its financiers believed was flippable, especially with the help of the justice dept.

Nearby in another district of San Diego, another young Muslim was brought in as a carpetbagger from another city to run for Congress as a Republican against Democrat incumbent Scott Peters.

Someone has a great big chess board. This is all coordinated, a hunting expedition.

Martha Stewart went to jail for much less than that.

Martha Stewart was sent to prison for denying involvement in insider trading. The Feds were unable to convict her of insider trading ... but they were able to convict her of "lying to federal prosecutors". The Deep State is using this same sort of manufactured "process crime" to destroy President Trump and anybody who supports him.

GOP’ers must be absolutely above reproach!

And that's the part that seems to elude them every time. The thoroughly corrupt American "justice" system excuses liberals in every way possible. If you are not part of that protected class, you will face the full weight of that "justice" system on you. Every GOPer should bake that mindset in whenever they seek office. Assume you are under scrutiny.

Seeing as the law does not apply equally, Hunter should be acquitted.

The law either applies to everyone, or it applies to no one.

Doesn’t matter if the charges are legitimate, the point is the bad PR to try and effect the midterms.

And please don’t think that Republican “professional politicians” are immune from being stupid, sloppy or corrupt. They key word is “professional politician” be they Rat or GOP they all share the same notion to greater (Rat) or lessor ( maybe GOP) that they are indispensable & immune to the norms you and I have to follow. Didn’t he follow his father into that seat? That automatically puts my antenna up!
