Hey, if you gotta burn off fuel, you may as well continue onto your destination then attempt an emergency landing there. At least that way if you survive, then you’re where you wanted to be.

Except if they need medical care, the National Health System in the UK might kill them.

One of two things happened, either it was a maintenance issue where something was not put on properly or there was FOD ( foreign object damage ) on the runway and they hit something and cause the tires to blow. It is normal to not retract the gear if you have a tire failure on take off. You don’t know what you’re bringing back into the airplane especially with the maingear you could be bringing a fire inside the wheel well. With the gear extended your range is significantly reduced so it makes sense for them to burn fuel or dump if they have that capability to make landing wait. They don’t need to issues with the airplane, tire failure and an overweight landing.

“One hour dumping fuel.”

Well, with all that hydrocarbon mist coming down, folks along the flight path might get some relief from the mosquitoes. That’s alotta Jet to pour out on everything. Car Wash will be booming this weekend.

Yeah, our company had Sully come and speak at our company picnic. He was kind of inspirational for about ten minutes and then it was all Sully for the next 45. It was about how his training saved them. Not one mention, in any form, of divine intervention. He’s pretty much a turd as far as I’m concerned.

Better up that another mil as I’ve heard it’s not good for the engines to ingest foam.

Dumped fuel will never reach the ground, given normal altitudes and procedures.

I can’t imagine that the tires actually blew off the airplane.

Maybe the mechanic did a tire change and forgot to put the lug nuts back on...........Well, it could have happened.

“-——( foreign object damage ) on the runway and they hit something and cause the tires to blow. “

Wasn’t that the cause of the Concorde accident?

As usual the media has not got a clue. The reporting is terrible as all their reporting is.

However...I suspect the problem is with the two nose wheel landing gear ties. If so...the Captain will approach the outer marker of the runway to make maximum usage of the length of the runway. He will keep the nose of the aircraft up as long as he can and, will gently ease the four main landing gear tires onto the runway surface as his airspeed decreases

As that happens, the nose gear with the damaged tires, if they are still there, will touch down on the runway and drag until the aircraft comes to a stop...the good news is there is no fuel near the nose landing gear, so if the pilot handles it right...all should go well for everyone. fingers crossed and praying for a good safe landing.

Having watched video of the miracle on the Hudson, I was amazed at the boat traffic crossing back and forth and how there was fortunately no boat in the way as they ditched.

No idea if they’ve landed or not. That’s why I was asking.

Media is totally useless. All their focus is on attacking Trump and they apparently have interns doing everything else. There is virtually no coverage of anything not relating to Trump.

If a member of Trump's cabinet was on the plane, maybe we'd have people at the airport providing a live feed by now.

Some reports say it’s been diverted to Westfield Barnes Regional in Massachusetts.
