TETERBORO, New Jersey (WABC) -- A plane is attempting to make an emergency landing after it blew off two of its tires during takeoff at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey.

An airport source said the pilot took off around 10:50 a.m. after its two front tires blew off, and the plane is now circling the airport before it attempts to land.

Sources said 16 people are on board. The aircraft is a Gulfstream IV, a jet flown mainly for private and business use.

The aircraft was heading to London Luton Airport in Luton, England.

The plane was expected to land at Teterboro around 12:20 p.m., but it was diverted to Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Westfield, Massachusetts.

Funny. And yet two airplanes made of said fragile "aluminum" took down two steel and concrete twin skyscrapers on 9-11. Uhhh, yeah, right. 😡😞

The funniest SNL skit ever was the one where JetBlue had this happen on a take off from Long Beach, and they landed at LAX. I think I was crying with laughter the first 5x I watched that skit.

From a real event, and it was the first time a planeload of passengers were able to watch 24/7 news coverage of the plane they were on, having trouble. That skit was so well written.

(The real plane landed with no trouble, just sparking landing gear.)

I guess you really don’t want the plane to land.

Need to dial back the Bolivian Marching Powder.

My initial comment was just a joke bro.

Well, my brother was once a waiter at the Comedy Club on Hollywood Boulevard, so you just let me be the judge of what's funny, alright mister?

It was the explosion and burning jet fuel that took down the buildings but the aluminum on the aircraft

It’s gone now but it was definitely a helicopter. The app has unique icons of varying sizes for types of aircraft. The largest icon is the one reserved for the 747 and A380 aircraft.

My complaint is with the MSM drone who is too inarticulate to craft a sentence that acurately describes what happened.

These days, if they don't have a press release to to lift, er, quote from directly they are lost. Most local "news" now is cut and paste.

LOL. I remember that. Not enough repetitions to be noteworthy, unlike the last time.

WGGB/WSHM website:

... an FAA official tells ABC News that the plan - as of 2 p.m. - is to divert the plane to Stewart International Airport in New York.

No, the concrete runway is the best because fire trucks can track along with the aircraft as it goes down the runway to a stop.

I was listening to some more news reports as this aircraft circles dumping its fuel and, no one can verify which tires blew out. A main landing gear failure would require a different set of landing circumstances, if that is the case or, the pilot could choose to perform a gears up landing if the gears can still be retracted.

It was in the vicinity of Baystate Medical Center when it disappeared; could’ve been a Life Star helicopter.
