Judge T. S. Ellis III said he would call the jury into the courtroom to reply to its question. The jury’s note to Judge Ellis asked: “If we cannot reach a consensus on a single count, how should we fill out the verdict sheet?” It went on to ask what the issue would “mean for the final verdict?”

No. It sounds like it means they AGREE on 17 counts. That doesn’t automatically imply he is guilty on those counts. Could be innocent.

I think it’s highly unlikely some of them aren’t guilty however.

I agree. I have a very hard time thinking that the just feels Manafort is clearly guilty on 17 counts but that there is one charge — just one — where he might possibly be innocent.

Much more likely that he is very close to walking away entirely free.

not sure? it could mean a single charge of the 18 charges or perhaps multiple single chargers within the group...

the media is going with a single charge(one) out of the 18 and they have reached a verdict on the other 17

I’m guessing they want to go home and remain deadlocked on the one count.

Can’t really add anything into this other than they are having trouble
agreeing on 1 charge.
Who knows about the other 17.

Either 17 of the counts are Guilty or they are Not Guilty. I can only imagine that if the one remaining count cannot be resolved, and the others are all guilty, then the Foreman would suggest that they vote Not guilty on that one and go home. Of course if the situation is the opposite, then they will continue to argue until someone is satisfied.

I’m guessing is that they have 17 counts of Not Guilty.

Why does everybody keep assuming it’s either 17 guilty or 17 not guilty. It could just as easily be some of each. Some guilty, some not guilty.

just in

Alexandria, Virginia (CNN)The judge in the trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort urged the jury Tuesday to keep deliberating after it asked what happens if it can’t reach consensus on one of 18 counts.

“It is your duty to agree upon a verdict if you can do so,” Judge T.S. Ellis said. He encouraged each juror to make their own decisions on each count, but if some were in the minority on a decision, they could think about what the other jurors believe.
Give “deference” to each other and “listen to each others’ arguments.”
“You’re the exclusive judges,” he added. “Take all the time which you feel is necessary.”

full note:

“Your Honor, if we cannot come to a consensus on a single count, how should we fill in the jury verdict form for that count? And what will that mean for the final verdict? We will need another verdict form.”
