Facebook has TRUST ratings for users – but it won’t tell you your score

FACEBOOK is rating users based on how "trustworthy" it thinks they are.

Users receive a score on a scale from zero to one that determines if they have a good or bad reputation – but it's completely hidden.

The rating system was revealed in a report by the Washington Post, which says it's in place to "help identify malicious actors".

Facebook tracks your behaviour across its site and uses that info to assign you a rating.

Tessa Lyons, who heads up Facebook's fight against fake news, said: "One of the signals we use is how people interact with articles.

"For example, if someone previously gave us feedback that an article was false and the article was confirmed false by a fact-checker, then we might weight that person’s future false news feedback more than someone who indiscriminately provides false news feedback on lots of articles, including ones that end up being rated as true."

Earlier this year, Facebook admitted it was rolling out trust ratings for media outlets.

This involved ranking news websites based on the quality of the news they were reporting.

This rating would then be used to decide which posts should be promoted higher in users' News Feeds.

It's not clear exactly what users' ratings are for, but it's possible they may be used in a similar way.

But Facebook hasn't revealed exactly how ratings are decided, or whether all users have a rating.

According to Lyons, a user's rating "isn't meant to be an absolute indicator of a person's credibility".

Instead, it's intended as a measurement of working out how risky a user's actions may be.

It's Facebook's latest bid to tackle fake news, a growing problem for the social network.

The site, which sees 2.23billion users log on every single month, has become a hot-bed for falsified news coverage.

Earlier this year, billionaire Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg vowed to fight fake news.

"The world feels anxious and divided, and Facebook has a lot of work to do," the 34-year-old Harvard drop-out explained.

Facebook has admitted that its site has been the subject of political fakery campaigns from Russia.

After initially denying any complacency on its part, the social network admitted more than 126 million US users had viewed some form of Russian propaganda.

A congressional hearing followed, with Facebook, Twitter, and Google in the dock.

And Facebook's been grappling with the problem ever since.

If falsebook is a primary news source for someone, that person is doing it wrong.

Pretty soon people will have to take the “mark of the beast” to prove they are trustworthy on Facebook. The what is next?

Many big firms have dabbled in demanding prospective employees’ social media passwords so they can check for anything that may prove ‘unfortunate.’

How long before a person’s ‘trust rating’ determines whether they get hired?

Or get a loan?

I think if they offered a button that you could turn off all news items....more than 80-percent of the public would opt for that.

Do they have a uniform dress code at Facebook?

It should be Brown Shirts.

Identical to what the ChiComs are doing.

Much of what they have in store for us has been tried and tested on the Great Firewall over the past decade.

I am not on Facebook. Anyone who is should be suing them for their “trust rating”.

News feeds from social media via smartphones is the near-exclusive source of information for most Millenials I know. That and The Daily Show.

So it sounds like anyone else can see the rating but the person? With all the trackers Facebook has it is probably hard to tell ones rating even if you are not logged into your account. Somebody enterprising individual ought to start a site. For a nominal fee, say $1 paid via PayPal have the site check the rating. Or ask a friend to do it. Anyway, compile the data of individuals who are being labeled as safe and those not and publicize the censorship. Easy to predict the results.

“How long before a person’s ‘trust rating’ determines whether they get hired?”

That’s been going on for years. Take the resume, if it’s passable google the name and investigate social media.

I feel left out, as I do not have a “communist social credit score” as we do not have a Farcebook account.

I seriously wonder if those that have zero to do with Farcebook are blackballed in some way or another by the gov, some leftist organization?

Let’s face it, Farcebook and the modern smart phone are excellent ways to monitor just about anything anyone does.

Sounds like an element in the algorithm for a credit report.

Why does anyone have a FaceBook account?

Why is FakeBook keeping track of people who do NOT have accounts?

FTA: “The site, which sees 2.23billion users log on every single month”

I do not believe that number. They are making it up and also counting bots. No way out of a planets population of 7 billion that Facebook has that many real people using the website.

In other words, if the person's opinion is agreed with by SPLC (or whatever far-left organization they use to fact-check), then future flaggings are more likely to be accepted. But if SPLC disagrees, then they will ignore your future flaggings.
