In Silicon Valley, about 71 percent of tech employees are foreign-born, according to a 2016 report based on U.S. census data.

And they wonder what has caused the housing shortage in the Bay Area.

Excellent. There are plenty of US citizens trained to do computer work...you’ll just have to pay them a little more.

Housing might be affordable for Americans in California if we weren’t being flooded with H-1Bs

Millions of Indians stay beyond their H-1B visas waiting for their next contract. The sponsoring companies illegally sponsor them while claiming the Indians left the country and came back when the Indians stayed.

The H-1B program needs to be canceled and EVERY Indian and foreigner including Chinese, Pols, Russians, needs to be sent home.

A HUGE illegal alien population has been the foreign tech workers abusing the H-1B program.

They’ll have to close down most of the welfare motels located on near interstate offramps. The Indians have that market locked up.

“has struck Indian citizens harder than other foreign nationals”

As anyone in the Silicon Slum knows, that’s because the H1-B visas are almost 100% given to Indians.

If you read the Indian press, H1-B visa’s are considered an entitlement to them. After that, you can bring the extended family and get them on SSI ASAP.

Which explains why Sunnyvale in the evening looks like a retirement home in Mumbai since all the parents wander the streets in a country they know nothing about and had nothing to do with.

H-1B is Human Trafficking.

Human Trafficking is against the 13th Amendment banning involuntary servitude as they ban worker’s citizenship involuntarily.

Indians who come to the USA are extremely high fraud risks. Anyone in the industry can tell you that 19 of 20 Indians do NOT have the qualifications they claim to have.

END H1B AND H2B AND SEND ALL INDIANS HOME. ALL OF THEM. Trump should fulfill his campaign promise vis-a-vis India and cut off all visas and commerce until they accept return of deportees. Can’t believe he has followed through on this promise.

FIRST! Run an extensive background check to verify diplomas, work experience and criminal history of every H1B worker in their foreign country of origin.

SECOND! The American company must provide proof for every H1B that they cannot hire an American for that job.

Just doing those two things alone would eliminate a huge percentage of H1B.

But THIRD! Heavy fines on companies that violated the rules on H1B.

Indian “Citizens” have no problem. Citizens of India do. But that is because there are several very large companies from India that made billions on controlling the H1-B program. They controlled the H1-Bs of several Indian nationals who worked in the US. They provided a workforce to American companies at rock bottom prices then they took money out of every workers paycheck. These companies controlled tens of thousands of US visas. They do lab work, quality control, light programming, and other light technical work.

I am happy to see this save labour go away in the US.

This is good. We have whole subdivisions of Indians in Metro Atlanta sucking up every tech job. Jobs Americans just aren’t capable of doing. (,sarc)

Thank you GOD! This is long LONG overdue.

I’ve talked about this several times - the banks are absolutely stuffed full of cheap labor H1B Indians...I’d say 1/4 to 1/3rd of the people in the bank buildings. Its ridiculous. There are lots of good jobs that should be filled with Americans.

“And they wonder what has caused the housing shortage in the Bay Area. “

We live in Danville. It’s still too expensive for these “foreign born types.” But our local Costco ( which lies right on the border with neighboring San Ramon looks like a ME bazaar most days (they come from San Ramon and Dublin to shop, and they are very pushy, particularly with white people). When I enter the parking lot, I am surprised that there aren’t elephants and camels tethered there. And now Dublin and Pleasanton have allowed very high-density multi-story apartments to be built along I 580 and I 680, which has made those “freeways” (which both now have toll lanes) nearly impassible most of the day. We need to force the Silicon Valley to move some of their facilities out into the Central Valley where a lot of their employees now live anyway.

I was in a large set of buildings on the Microsoft campus that went from 30% foreign born to 80% foreign born (mostly Indian) in 3 years … after Satya Nadella became CEO.
